Well during my posts on Apples thread I went outside to sit on the porch and observe my son playing with his friends. I was sitting there and all of a sudden two kids on bike come riding up the street. My son said "hey are you guys the neighborhood idiots". I instantly got pissed, I told him to get his ass in the house now we needed to talk.

Once inside I asked him why he said it and of course usual answer "I don't know." I told him that it is not nice to make fun of other people. Asked him if he would like it if people made fun of him? In the middle of our conversation he started getting teary eyed. I told him it's alright not to cry just not to ever make fun of anyone ever again. I told him that when I was younger I got made fun of by mean kids. It got so bad that I had to transfer schools, it was some of the worst years of my life.

Not sure if I should have said that to him about me, but wanted him to realize that it's not cool making fun of others.

You know he's going to mercilessly make fun of you now, right? :p

But yeah, I would've been pissed at my kid as well. I think you did the right thing telling him what happened to you. It'll give him a little context to how much it can affect someone.

When i was about 11 i was riding my bike w a friend and as we rode by this one guy i called him a loser(no idea why i did it) and he chased us for about half a mile. Saw him a couple days later and he said if i ever did that again he would break every bone in my body. Dude was at least 20 too. I got lucky the psycho didnt catch me the day i did it. Hopefully your son wises up like i did and doesnt say something like that to the wrong person.

Yeah I was also thinking of this point at the time. You are very right there will prolly come a time when he is not with his friends and could cross paths with them. Like Tupac said "You aint shit without your homeboys"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dg_epQ9105o

I wouldn't say anything, I got made fun of a lot in school, mostly because I was extremely nerdy and got ridiculously good grades. But it made me a strong person and all those people that made fun of me growing up are bagging my groceries and you can take that to the bank.

That clip reminds me of my dad and his barber. They are cronies from way back as long as I can remember.
