They finally got me ... have to order a Blackberry for my job. Held out as long as I could, but it just became company policy, so the ball and chain is complete.
Those of you tethered to your office at all hours, how do you manage? Thankfully it's T-Mobile so I can probably get away with the "I didn't have service" excuse more often than not

Is there a requirement as to what hours you are responsible to answer calls or emails?

My boss is a bit crazy, he has called me on Sundays before, but he knows now that I won't pick up. If he calls late during the week (after 8pm or so), I usually don't pick up, unless he keeps trying, so I know its important. Most of the time its crap that can wait till the next day.

Probably not. I'm usually @ the office from 9am-7 or 8pm anyhow though.THE4RINGZ wrote: Is there a requirement as to what hours you are responsible to answer calls or emails?

I hate it. I'm expected to respond to e-mails/calls promptly, no matter what time it is or where I am. I seriously wake up in the night to check to see if I've missed any messages, and I now experience "phantom" buzzing, where I think I feel it vibrating when it isn't. It's sad.

I don't have a company cell phone. However, Monday another Supervisor called me at home on my cell when I was telecommuting to inquire about something our boss did. He accused me of doing it without checking out all the details. I was pissed about that and the fact that he called me on my personal cell phone, so after spitting out pissed, mother fucking and bullshit, I told him I had to go because I was about to cuss him out!
Don't do this on your company phone!
