He should be a good compliment to Crabtree

A late round pick? Was he traded for financial reasons or what?

With Crabtree and Davis, I seriously think Ginn could thrive as a deep threat slot receiver with the 49ers.

Talk about a bust of a pick!
Top 10 pick traded for a 5th rounder..ouch.

As a 49'er fan, I am pretty pleased they traded for the entire Ginn family for only a 5th round pick.

Good luck mang. We certainly loved Teddy, but even diehard OSU fans were scratching their heads at that selection. But hey, it was either Ted or Quinn for them. I don't think either would have been a good pick.

Decent move for the Niners. He can contribute big time on special teams and I think he can be a solid slot WR in the NFL.

Let's not put everything on Teddy. He's yet to play with a QB that can take advantage of his speed.

No. He was traded because he's really not that good. Surprised the Fin's got a 5th for him. I wouldn't have given a 5th of Wild Irish Rose. One dimensional player.thedynasty1998 wrote: A late round pick? Was he traded for financial reasons or what?

This. I've never understood why the player is considered the bust instead of those who picked poorly.j_crazy wrote: wish him the best. it's not his fault cam cameron is a collosal failure as a talent evaluator.

I disagree. He's a career slot receiver, he doesn't have the hands, the route running ability, or the catching ability to be a true #1 (i.e. the ability of a Marshall or Moss to go grab a ball that's not thrown perfectly).BR1986FB wrote:No. He was traded because he's really not that good. BUT, Miami hasn't had a true #1 since they got Ginn, and the 49er's not only have a superb #1 but also a stud TE in Davis, and a great running back in Gore, so I think this is a TREMENDOUS pick up.
Who would the 49ers draft in the 5th round with Ginn's speed and return ability? The answer is no one, and it's not really close.
I think he can definitely contribute as a slot receiver, and remember it's only his 4th year in the league, too soon to write him off, especially to say you wouldn't even give a 5th rounder for him.
Great move by the 49ers.

I agree with this to an extent. When it's a consensus choice that a player is going to be awesome (i.e. Tony Mandarich), then I think it's fair to call him a bust. But when the jury's out on a player, and they're taking that player way too high (Ginn at #9), then I agree that the blame lies on the team that drafted him not the player.queencitybuckeye wrote:This. I thinks it's like the darrius heyward bey pick. I wont label him a bust because I believe that it was stupid to even draft him that high without a QB to throw him the ball.

If he cant run routes very well, and doesnt have great hands, what makes you think he could be effective in the slot? Where most of the routes are about finding holes in the defense and knowing how to read it. And running precise timing routes. Hes a track athlete playing football. Hes not worth much at all
