I thought the Friends of Coal Classic was defunct. Are you sure they're going to play it again?bridgeport2001 wrote: Theres peaple talking about BRIDGEPORT playing WHEELING CATHOLIC CENTRAL (WV) week 2 in the FRIENDS OF COAL CLASSIC.I would like 2 play them ,But i don't like the fact that we already signed 2 play TORONTO and are now thinking about pulling out of that game. What is everyones thought on this.

I hope to make it over to B-Port for another game this season.
Did any of the seniors from last season make the choice for college?
If so where are they going and are they playing ball?

THIS WAS POSTED ON ANOTHER SITE
Bloomquist leaked the story on his radio show. Still in the planning stages (may or may not happen 50/50 chance) but would movethe FRIENDS OF COAL CLASSIC 2 Perkins field , if finalized. Only 5 people were in the initial meeting last week. One of the five leaked it to Bloomquist, and he ran with it on his radio show. Would still be Labor Day weekend.
I don't think it will happen , i think perkins field is 2 small 2 handle bigger schools.

I have 2 say i didn't think this was 4 real so i when and found what BLOOMQUIST said about it.He said there a good chance that this will happen , The sponsers(USA2day) wants 2 move it 2 a smaller field 2 pack in the fans with standing room only so it will have more energy.GAMES WOULD BE PLAYED WEEK 5 NOT WEEK 2
There trying 2 get these 3 games in THE RALLY IN THE VALLEY
STEUBENVILLE vs MORGANTOWN
IGGY vs 1 of the top teams from PHILLY(this game will be on tv)
BRIDGEPORT vs WHEELING CATHOLIC CENTRAL(both team will have 2 break contracts 4 it 2 happen)
Still not sure if it will happen but i hope it does.

Well all I can say is that Bridgeport will benefit from playing ANYONE besides Toronto... Heck, you could play your own 7th grade and have a better game. If Bridgeport gets the chance to play someone else, they should go for it.

I doubt if Morgantown would be willing to give up their home game against Big Red. This just doesn't sound like it's going to happen.bridgeport2001 wrote: I have 2 say i didn't think this was 4 real so i when and found what BLOOMQUIST said about it.He said there a good chance that this will happen , The sponsers(USA2day) wants 2 move it 2 a smaller field 2 pack in the fans with standing room only so it will have more energy.GAMES WOULD BE PLAYED WEEK 5 NOT WEEK 2

I still don't see why Morgantown would give up a sure sell-out to play in Bridgeport.

Do you even have enough seats to accommodate the Big Red crowd? We normally bring around 3000.

I can't see it happening, but money talks.
Reno brought up this scenerio back in the winter, and said if Morgantown agreed then we would just extend the contract by a year...play at Motown in 11 and at Death Valley in 12.

If Bridgeport plays Wheeling CC, wouldn't that be a big step up? Frankly, I can't think of anyone on their schedule who scares me.

I dont think there going 2 play WCC couse the rally in the valley isnt going 2 happen anywhere around here. I think they have made step up from last year by droping st.jonh's , RITTMAN , and paden city and picking up STEUBENVILLE CATHOLIC CENTRAL , TORONTO , AND ZANESVILLE ROSECRANS.

I'm a Big Red fan and I don't like the idea of playing a double header on Thursday, either. But the Big Red-Inkster game will be a classic and the school wants a big crowd. Inkster is the only team to beat Big Red in the regular season in the past seven years.bridgeport2001 wrote: BRIDGEPORT will be playin week one on thursday after the STEUBENVILLE vs INKSTER game , Game will start at 8pm. At any rate, the two games are scheduled for the same night, so we have to live with it.

That is true it is scheduled , the only thing i dont like is the STEUBENVILLE GAME starts at 6 and the BRIDGEPORT GAME starts at 8 but if the STEUBENVILLE game goes into overtime or something are game might not start till 9 or even later.Thats the only thing i don't like .

I think Big Red is claiming that the SCC-Bridgeport game will start at 8:30, but I don't see that happening. It will start no earlier than 9:00.

Have been hearing 4 the last couple days that the BRIDGEPORT vs WCC could still happen but it will be in STEUBENVILLE on SEPT. 25 (they are still trying 2 get stuff work out , there not sure if its going 2 happen or not)
Also heard that the week 1 game on thursday against STEUBENVILLE CATHOLIC CENTRAL is not a done deal.(came from a good insider.)
