I think it'll be interesting to see what the NFL attempts to get teams to play their starters late in the season.

They were throwing around some ideas and I bet you def see division games in that last weekend..maybe the teams that finished 1-2 last season.

The thing with that tho......most divisions are wrapped up by then. Even if the bengals/ratbirds played in week 17 there is a great chance it was already decided and still have teams sit guys.

Yous ee what the NBA has been doin...LuProm Jamez set out like that last 3-4 games I think..know some people who went last weekend and it sucked he sat out...but anyways...

With Roethlisberger expected to be out 2-4 games, hopefully the NFL is kind to the Steelers with some easier games in September.

^I full expect two game rip for BR.

First game is expected to be home. Few weeks ago when the talk of playing NO on opening thursday ame up Mr Rooney discussed how he felt they wont play in that one and will open at home on that sunday becuase the next two games there is scheduiing conflict with the Pirates, and he doubts NFL would make them play three in a row on the road.

I look for NFL to do them NO FAvORS. They like to take week one and make it a big game, start with a bang. Wouldnt be surprised if it was the bengals or ratbirds.

Home: Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers.

Here are the Steelers home opponents.

I'd be surprised if it's the Ravens or Patriots. Those games look more like October or November Sunday or Monday night games.

I guess it could be the Jets but the NFL may have a sense of humor and want the Jets to play the Steelers with Santonio Holmes, which would be after the four-game suspension.

That leaves...

Cincinnati
Cleveland
Oakland
Atlanta
Carolina

I'm thinking maybe Atlanta. They have Matt Ryan. It's a decent AFC-NFC game for the first Sunday on Fox. It would be enough of a challenge for the Steelers, especially with Dennis Dixon at QB, that the rest of the league can't say the NFL did them a favor.

Im wondering if the schedule was done already before the NYJ trade.
Could possibly e ATL....who knows. I could also see the NFL going out of their way to not show favoritism...who knows...we ll find out nxt week.

The NFL said it wouldn't announce the release of the schedule until it was final, giving the networks about 2 days to put together their timeslot to air the release.

Seems about right. Two business days here. The schedule was supposed to be out last week but they were still tweaking it from the report I read last week why it was pushed back.

Odds are the weeks and opponents are figured, it was just a matter of figuring who gets the primetime games, which day of the week, etc.

I have seen quite a few sites say the Bengals will be at the Jets on the opening Monday night in their new stadium.

Also Shefter has been saying all signs are pointing to a 4 or 8 game suspension for Rapelisberger. I can't see him getting an 8 game suspension but I guess you never know. Even with a 4 game suspension I wouldn't look for the scheduling committee to do them any favors.

8 games seems very harsh for someone who wasnt even charged or arrested to be honest with ya.

Many feel 2 games is sufficient in this instance. 4....well........that typically is levied upon people who are busted and guilty of stuff.

with that said......I can see the steelers pushing the NFL for a longer suspension than they were going to put out there. Because fo the CBA the power of the Rooney's to suspend their own player like this is very limited. If it is a 4 game rip id like the league or team to come out and say the original suspension was 2 games but the steelers requested more.

I really do see that the Steelers org is doing more than many teams do when shit like this happens.

Jets/Giants are playing night games SNF and MNF I do believe.

i wonder if thet steelers requesting, rumor I guess, towant to host the NYD hockey game at heinz, has changed some plans for the schedule.

The suspension will may be 8 but like they stated it will be reduced with consistent good behavior and him seeking counseling etc.

Just like Vick's suspension.
