I'm a middle school teacher and the latest trend is that the students are wearing Phiten necklaces and claim they relax their muscles. My question is, Does Phiten actually work? What do you guys think?

A friend of mine paid like $35 one of these necklaces. I laughed at him the whole time!

I've worn mine for about 2 years now. I used to get shoulder pain after throwing, but it's been minimal since I've worn it...so mark me down as one who believes it helps.

It has become a pretty ridiculous trend though. I've only kept wearing mine because of it being therapeutic for my shoulder....but I believe a lot of people wear them just for looks (which I don't think they look all that cool so I don't get that part of it)

They are more psychological than anything else, if they "work" its because its all in your head. Sort of like the placebo affect, also, cocks.

It is very much a placebo effect and in your head. MLB players have been wearing these things for the last few years and since the place is founded in Seattle, teams stock up when they play the Mariners. Not likely to have any real therapeutic effect but if it makes you feel better and takes away your pain, go for it.

no, I don't think they have any real medical effect.

Most guys wear them for the look.

If people think they work for them, then they work. Wellness for the most part is as much psychological as it is physiological.

I am a huge skeptic of stuff like that. However, I wore a Phiten bracelt when I had a banged up wrist and hand it seemed to take the stiffness away with a couple of hours.

I don't think it was the placebo effect because I really was trying to prove the hype was just hype.

Get one that matches the uniform and it looks dirty, IMO.

only if you can pull it off. If you're one of those wirey, skinny pitchers with no meat on their bones who can't fill out a uniform, then you tend to start looking not-so-good

2 things:

Are you here to hook up with your students?

As a JH kid I dont remember ever being that uptight.

What a ridiculous statement. It can't be that I enjoy sports and like to discuss/debate them with fellow sports fans....But don't worry, I'm used to being around this level of immaturity...
