Blackhawks kill off the remainder of the 5 minute major in OT and Hossa scores the game winner a minutea after the penalty expires. Hawks up 3-2 in the series!

Awesome game. Hossa was at the right place at the right time. Preds had their shots on the PP though.
Going to Nashville, with the Hawks up 3-2.
That could be the series, but I have a feeling this comes back to Chicago as Nashville played a great 2nd and 3rd periods.

How about the competition so far in terms of all the series? all but one playoff team has won at least 2 games in their series.

Pens win in OT, 4-3 in OT, 9:56.
Pens advance to probably play the winner of Sabers, Bruins series (unless a major upset by the Canadians)
Great great series.
All of the first round series have been awesome. Great hockey.

The Sharks are ahead 1-0 over the Avs in the 1st.

Sharks dominate the 1st period and were up 1-0. Then in the 2nd, Avs got a breakaway and tied the game.
A tough, gritty, hard hitting game. Sharks have pretty much dominated.
4on 4 action now, 5 to go in the 2nd.

Avs, Brandon Yip, just put one in to take the lead, 2-1.
15 to go in the 3rd.

Sharks are dominating shots and hits, but the Avs find ways to get goals.

Sharks just got two empty-netters with under a minute left. Pretty much sealing it.
5-2 final
Sharks win the series, 4-2, their first first round series win in 6 years.
Sharks woke up after the Avs 2nd goal. Anderson had a solid series though, but the Avs did not have the firepower to take the series to 7. Avs have a bright future next year. I see the Sharks facing more difficulties whoever they face in the next round.

The Sharks join the Flyers and Pens in advancing to the 2nd round.

Light day today, only two games, both in the West.
On NBC at 2:00pm
Game Six: 4. Coyotes at 5. Wings, Wings lead 3-2.

On Vs at 9:00pm:
Game Six: 3. Canucks at 6. Kings, Canucks lead 3-2.

I expect the Wings to close out the series today and the Kings to send it back to Canada and get revenge for the thrashing they took in game 5.

Wings had two straight PP, and the Coyotes get a faceoff win, good breakaway and then get a short handed goal.

1-0 Coyotes. But, Coyotes get another penalty. 5-3 now.

After the Wings can't get anything in, the Coyotes on the PP, get a goal, 2-0 Coyotes. Wow.
Great defense by the Coyotes.

And just as I am typing the Wings come back to make it 2-1.

Coyotes get another one during a PP. They are finishing, while the Wings simply cannot.

Man, that series might not be over yet. With the way the Wings took a 3-2 edge in the series, I figured they'd wax the Coyotes on their ice. Now, it's looking like they'll have to endure a Game 7 in hostile environment if they're going to move on.
