Great line up on HBO tonight.
Andre Berto(25-0) vs Carlos Quintana(27-2)
This will be Berto's best opponent by far tonight, he's going to be tested.
Two of the best welterweights in the world go at it tonight.

The first fight is a great one too.
Celistino Caballero(33-2) vs Daud Yordan(25-0)
Caballero has been dominating at 122 and is moving up to featherweight to give Yordan a try. Yordan showed great hand speed and a willingness to trade with a proven slugger when he got Robert Guerrero to quit on him in the second round last year.

Would be nice if HBO showed Antwone Smith vs Franklin Gonzalez too.
Smith just turned 23 and is yet another good welterweight, in a few years he will make a name for himself when he starts knocking off the current top welterweights.

espn's Friday Night Fights is actually on tonight for some reason.
They also have welterweights in the main event.
Orlando Lora(26-0-1) vs trial horse David Estrada(23-6)
Estrada fights are always good and it looks like a espn has a good line up tonight but it stinks compared to the HBO show.

FSN has a show tonight too and they have also have welterweights headlining.

The headliner is Mark Melligen(17-2) vs Norberto Gonzalez(18-1)
Gonzalez only loss came when the above mentioned Smith kicked his ass on FNF last year.

Terrific performance by Caballero.

He demolished Yordan for 12 rounds.

I've seen Caballero a few times and he has a pleasing style. Patiently busy you might say. He fights relaxed but throws a lot of punches and a wide variety.

Berto TKO 8

Pretty even fight through seven rounds.

Quintana made it awkard for Berto.

But Berto managed to corner Quintana in the 8th round and unleash a series of big shots, prompting the ref to stop it

I wouldn't call it pretty even. Berto wasn't dominating, but there was no question that he was winning the fight.

Estrada butchered Lora. I and two friends had a great time watching Estrada's right hand CONSTANTLY connect with Lora's head. We knew it was a matter of time before the fight got stopped by KO or TKO because Lora was doing nothing but take a beating he'll never forget.

I thought Quintana may have won three of the first seven rounds.

Though he still would've been behind two points (67-65) because of the 10-8 round when he hit behind the head.

espn fights were great, HBO not so much.

I would love to see David Estrada vs Luis Collazo..................the fans would be the winner and it would be a fight of the year candidate.

Lora had heart and a great chin but the two combined just allow you to take a severe ass whuppin' when in the ring with a better man.

Why did Yordan's corner allow that slaughter to keep going? Reminded of the Calzaghe/Lacy beating.
