Jon Starr, Licking Heights State Champion 1976 passed away last week. I don't have the details but a friend saw in the Col. Dispatch obituaries he passed.
Great guy and great wrestler. Prayers to his family!!!

Jon was Licking Heights 3rd state placer in program history earning 3rd place in 1975. He came back to finish the job as a senior and won the 1976 state title, only the 3rd LH wrestler to accomplish the feat. He was 58-2 over his last 2 seasons including a perfect 30-0 as a senior.
While I never had the chance to meet Jon, I have heard many stories from people in our program and from others outside who either knew him or watched him wrestle. Jon was an incredibly well liked guy and will be sadly missed.

ksig489, He is sadly missed and I think he has a nephew wrestling in central Ohio. I'm just kind of surprised that nobody from his era is on this site.

Jon Was tough as they get. Very physical, very aggressive. I never seen him sit on a lead, he wanted every point (or pin) at every momment. Blessings from the Bowman Family to Jon's Family and friends. A great loss to the wrestling community.
