I am due to update my plan at the end of this month. I need a technology junkie to help me out. I started out wanting the Droid, but then the Devour came out and it looks pretty nice. I talked to my cousin who is very technologically savvy and he says to wait until the Nexus One for Google comes out for Verizon. I guess it's supposed to be this month sometime. I thought I'd get a few more opinions. Thing is, I'm a HUGE texter, I rarely talk on the phone, and I'd like to have a phone that is good with the internet. It's a lot more convenient to check student email on campus while I'm walking around or what not on my cell phone rather than getting out my laptop, and tihngs like that. Also, the navigation system is a plus. If anything has any knowledge of this all of your input is welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance.

haha...I just started a thread about Verizon's new phone. Everything that I can find on it...says that it is better than the Nexus One. It is the HTC Incredible and it releases this month. I am trying to find out how much it costs....but having no luck.

Yeah, but this phone isn't released until April 25, so there is no firm price for a new customer.

Well I currently have a Curve and love it and the new edition that came out is supposed to be just a good.

I liked the Droid, but I am interested in seeing what the Iphone for verizon is going to be like. That won't be out till Jan 2011 though.

Depending where you are located I have a guy I got to in Pataskla that is a good friend, give you a good deal and an honest opinion on the phones.

The Droid and Devour are good phones. Having used both, I would give the nod to the Droid. The Devour is great...as an "entry level" Android phone. It will let you do the Google Nav, push email from any pop3 or imap (and is one of the few Android devices that will let you set up your Yahoo email without any issue), and also has MOTOBLUR. The BLUR software is getting pigeonholed as software entirely for people who want their Facebook and Twitter updates all the time. While it's true that BLUR brings all your social networking together, it also provides customizable news widgets (where you can actually type in the RSS from your favorite websites and get notifications of updates), a universal inbox where all your text messages, emails, and social networking messages get brought together, and the best feature...remote locate and wipe. For no extra charge, you can log onto your computer and see via GPS where your phone is and then send a signal to wipe it out so nobody can get your info.

The Nexus One has nice specs, but it's not going to be supported in Verizon stores. Since it's not going to be sold in stores, technicians and sales reps aren't going to be able to triage the phone when there are issues and you're going to have to send it back to Google to get any repairs or replacements done. That means you'll be stuck without a phone for a week or two while they fix it. I'm not a fan of the N1 and think there are better options out there.

The HTC Incredible looks amazing from everything I've read. I can't wait til Motorola rolls out our answer to that phone.

Also, I was wondering if it'd be the best idea to just completely switch coverages and go with the iPhone on AT&T. Has anyone had any complaints about this phone or it's network? The only negative I had heard was the inability to send and receive picture/video messages, but according to my cousin that was added on in the last OS update. I've been a Verizon customer since I've owned a cell phone so I'm unaware of any (if any) problems that come from AT&T. All I know about the network is what's on those stupid commercials about the 3G networks and what not. So does anyone recommend switching to the iPhone and AT&T or strongly suggest staying with Verizon? My cousin also has iPhone with AT&T and he says that you're looking at a $70 bill minimum. He's not a big texter so he doesn't have to pay that extra. Does anyone text a lot and have the iPhone? If so, what does your bill look like???

The Nexus One is supposed to be released for Verizon's network, however it won't be available in stores. Google pulled a hell of a stunt by basically making themselves a third party dealer. So in addition to getting all the profit from selling the device, they also get a kick back for every customer that activates through them. They did that with T-Mobile...and are going to do the same thing with Verizon, which is why Verizon won't support it in stores.

I would recommend staying away from AT&T. As someone who literally has phones from all carriers...I would say that AT&T is second to last (only ahead of Nextel) in terms of service. I would even give T-Mobile a slight edge over AT&T's service. If you switch from Verizon to AT&T...you'll regret it.
