Quite a few in the Youngstown area, I believe. Dude I work with went over there once.

I vaguely recall reading an article in the Dispatch a few years back that the city of Columbus was trying to shut down these types of places in town since they are essentially legal prostitution and since they can hurt the business of actually licensed massage therapists. I'm sure some still exist here, but probably not as many as there once was.

I believe completely in free enterprise, but I think the safety and cleanliness of many of these establishments would start up more anti health care bill propaganda, as some would say they wouldn't want to pay for some sick liberal's perverted medical treatments. (There might even be a Conservative or two that would seek such rehabilitative procedures).

I'm not particularly familiar, but my understanding is that these are essentially channels of prostitution. Is that even legal? Is it something that is technically illegal but just isn't enforced?

I watched a documentary on these message places in LA.

They get cited and pay some big fines, but it doesn't really effect them at all. Sometimes they get shut down but they end up moving to a different location under a different business name and start back up.

Just like with an escort you're technically not paying for the sexual favor. You're paying for a massage and anything that happens beyond that is technically between two consenting adults. At least that's what these places would argue.
