UNC x2
Duke x2
Maryland x1
The Big East has two (Syracuse and UCONN), the SEC has two (Florida x2) and the Big XII has one (Kansas.)
It sickens me to see Duke win it as a diehard UNC fan, but does this definitely prove the ACC as the best conference? I know the NCAA tourney isn't about conference, per se, but when one conference makes up half of this decades titles, it's pretty surreal.
I've always been a believer that the ACC has been THE conference for college basketball. Though it was a little down this season, the ACC was still the home of the National Champion.
A lot of the teams will be looking very strong, including UNC who should enjoy a BIG bounce back season.
Thoughts?

I think you just watched Sportscenter and heard that stat.
Hard to argue with the success of the conference on the national level over the past decade. I've always thought the ACC had the most skilled teams. Big Ten and Big East are geared toward grind it out and physical play while the ACC is more about having skilled basketball players.

Uh yeah I heard it on ESPN... But I also knew it, just never thought of it.. If that makes sense? I mean, we all know that Duke won in 2001, Maryland in 2002, UNC in 2005 and 2009 and Duke this season..

Impressive. Not quite as impressive as the SEC in football, but still proving they are the elite conference of college basketball.

It's actually 5 of the last 11 if you're counting Michigan State in 2000. 2001-2010=10.
Splitting hairs, I know. Just sayin'.

It isn't really a true stat when facts aren't involved. Kansas won the 2008 championship.

Change Big Ten to Big XII and MSU to Kansas and the OP makes a lot more sense

Having the national champion does not prove the best conference. I would say the best conference is determined by number of Sweet 16 or Elite Eight teams. Having the national champion just means that conference's best team is better than everyone else's, not that overall a conference is better.

The ACC was the best conference in the early 2000s, but it hasn't been for a few years now.
If Butler won would the horizon have been the best conference this year?

I heard Dick Vitale agrees with this thread topic....
I wonder how many containers of lotion that guy went thought last night watching the game.

No it doesn't, unless the best teams in each conference play each other.Having the national champion just means that conference's best team is better than everyone else's,

Whoops on my slip up..
Definitely meant to start with Duke at 2001 and whiffed on KU in 2008.
I think you guys got the point though, despite my late night f up.
