Daniel "Diggy" Simmons, son of Rev Run from Run DMC, released this song. It's actually not bad. Not to mention he remade a classic Nas track, on one of the hottest beats used in hip hop. I just wish he had a little base in his voice, lol.

decent flow. Not a fan of the song... too generic.

I didnt know Diggy was doing music now. Thought he was just about the clothing line.

Russy is my favorite...that kid (along with Rev Run) made that TV show one of the best on the air.

This generated the buzz it needed to get him signed. He signed with Atlantic Records last week...apparently, and I (obviously) don't know all of the details of the contract, but there was a minor bidding war, and Atlantic was one of the few labels that would allow him to continue focusing on his clothing line as well.

I truly expected him to sign with Def Jam. But, it seems like Def Jam has just given up on trying to rebuild their roster.

It's good, and not so good that this can happen. It's great that a kid, or anyone, really, can release one track (I mean, he had a mixtape prior to this track, but it was standard fare), create endless buzz, ignite a bidding war, and get a record deal. But, it's kind of bad for that same reason. I think Diggy will do fine, he's got a great voice for an MC, he understands that he has a limited topic matter, and works well within it, and his delivery isn't bad at all. But, he's got to come with stuff that will keep people excited, as excited as they were when they heard this. Or else, this won't mean anything. As it stands, though, IMO, he's a great addition to hip hop's current youth movement.

I would love to see the 3 sons of the Rev release a Run DMC type album once they get a little older. One where they are rapping like Run DMC and finishing lines for each other. Maybe Diggy and Russy can do it and release it under the same name.
