It's not looking too good.

Vegas is no place for kids but if you had to take your kids, i've heard this is the place to stay.

I didn't make it inside but from the outside it looks awful and people are saying the inside is much worse.

The empty lots and stalled out construction on other hotels all around it have killed all their walk through traffic.

Circus Circus is the most ghetto casino in Las Vegas, I wouldn't stay there if you paid me. Good riddance!

I agree with you in this specific instance, but find it somewhat sad that the "old Vegas" will soon be completely a thing of the past in favor of the new mega-proerties. While in need of a facelift, I found the Sahara, for example, to have more character and atmosphere than a hundred Wynn's. I wish there was a place for both.

I love Downtown/Fremont Street/Old Vegas!

It's where the party is in Vegas.

It seems to be in it for the long haul.

I'm partial to the Golden Nugget Downtown and the 3-4 block covered walkway that the casinos empty out into.

The only thing I had a problem with downtown is how loud the sound system was.

That is some loud shit!

I wasn't a fan of the El Cortez's rude dealers 2 blocks down from the other casinos but I let management know about it and they are gonna make things right when we return in August.

It's been a few years, but we really liked Main Street Station. Unlike about any other casino, it has windows and natural light. It also has some pretty decent beer brewed on-site.

Agreed.

The first time I went to Vegas was with my family (it was all our first times). So naturally we wanted to check out as much as possible. The Excalibur was close by so we went to check it out. Definitely more of a kids place, but they were all so well behaved and lovely.

Fast forward to another night, we were seeing shows at The Riviera (another dump). So we decided to go into Circus Circus. What a difference compared with Excalibur. Low class (in manners, not in economic status) families with rude children and no respect for anyone or anything. There were a few fun games to play, but other than that, we couldn't wait to get out of there.

It was a real shit hole in 1989... my first trip to Viva. Three of us rented a room for the night... dropped the bags off, went back the next morning showered checked out and went to another hotel. Never even slept there.

Stayed in the Hilton condo's near there and was tempted to check out the Circus/Circus again... but I worked through the temptation.

That will make three Casino's that I have stayed in that no longer exist... (Stardust, Frontier)

Sad to hear about the decline of the north of the strip. My wife and stayed at the Riviera (across the street from C2) about 15 years ago on our first trip (and probably best) trip to Las Vegas. It wasn't high-end then, but it was affordable, clean, well-maintained, and very comfortable.

Las Vegas has changed a lot in the past ten years - the focus seems to be more on high-end restaurants and the clubs. It's probably for the better in the long run (for crying out loud, I'll be able to play blackjack in the hillbilly ghetto right here in Columbus in two years oO), but the old Vegas was a great vacation for a budget-constrained young couple on their first trip away from the kids in ten years. I don't think my wife drew a completely sober breath for five days - with the happily predictable results. :)

The problem for these places are the "high end" places have become so competitive from a price perspective (i.e. the price compression) that its hard to justify staying at Circus Circus when the Bellagio is almost as cheap with the package deals you can get and you can drink for free in their sports book. You can spend a lot more money at the high end casinos and restaurants if you choose, but if you just want a hotel room there's no reason not to stay at a place with better accomodations.

Visited Circus Circus as a kid about 30 years ago and had a blast. And then I always loved going to the Stardust sports book. No frills, just a good place to bet games and hang around.

Walked through the Circus Circus 3 years ago when I was in Vegas. It looked like it hadn't been updated in 40 years.

CC is the biggest trash heap of casinos on the Strip but the Steakhouse inside (independently run from CC management) is known by locals as having the very best NY Strip in town. They do something with a Canadian Steak tenderizer that makes all their meats taste unbelievable.

We passed on Circus Circus last summer and it sounds like it was a wise decision.

I didn't mind downtown but taking the cabs back and forth was not worth staying down there.

CC was a dump back in the 70's. I'm surprised it's still standing and hadn't gone the way of some of the others like the Riviera. Not a big loss to LV in the least when it finally is gone.

The double decker Deuce is the way to go.

7.00 for a 24 hour pass.

I was hating that damn thing though when it got packed full of people even standing in the aisles.

My mom had a shit come on and let out one of the stinkiest damn farts and all these people start moving away and I look back to see where they went and they were gone! :D

I was there as a kid back in the 90s. The show was kind of cool, but even when I was 8 I thought it was a dump. It looks like something that would fit nicely in reno or on an indian reservation. I just don't think the concept works very well.
