The 17 Minute "Response"

Think BHO's feeling the heat? Maybe a bit stressed? Does he still have a hard time believing there are people out there who have the audacity of disagreeing with him as opposed to buying in on the so-called "audacity of hope"? :rolleyes:

17 min and the lady is still waiting on her answer. If you truley beleive in somthing you should easily be able to defendat it.

When someone offers an argument in defense of a policy you don't agree with, you will not be happy until the explanation matches your opinion. That will never happen.

This is thing about Obama that ticks me off. He is that guy who is smart, knows the facts, but is long winded. He doesn't deliver short, straight to the point responses. Instead he goes point by point on and on.

I'm a policy guy myself, but you have to break it down into memo style points. Otherwise, the point get lost.

Hubert Humphrey and Adlai Stevevson were like you describe, ptown. They were both very articulate, always came with the facts. Sometimes too many facts for people to digest all at once. I would agree with you that Obama sometimes sounds more like a Baptist preacher than the President but I think a President needs to be somewhat passionate in his explanation of programs, particularly those that have come under some opposition. Perhaps cutting down a little on his verbosity would be a good idea though. I still think that the country is slowly heading in a more positive direction and that movement is making certain of our population nervous about their political fortunes.

I think this begins and ends with Obama's narcissism.

His ego simply won't let him give a brief answer and walk away.

I have no political fortune, I'm not a politician, so I don't have that carrot hanging in front of me. Politicians come and go but we the people have to deal with their insipid dumbass shenanigans.

If you want to see this country slowly heading in the right direction, you'll have to wait to see a certain dismantling of what we've got in DC right now.

Think about how a scientist can eloquently give the answer to a complex physics problem. Now, ask that scientist to give that answer in 2 minutes, and it is not possible. He can't do it.
Obama is smart, and does know his stuff, as he reads all the reports, data and figures given to him. But, he can't compress all that data into a short answer.
This isn't just healthcare. He does this with everything.

The Constitution is nervous about its fortunes too, with the "positive direction" our country is headed and all.

I agree that Obama is very intelligent. He speaks so eloquently and knows his stuff. IMO though, he's just on the wrong side. You don't make people equal by taking things from some to give to others, you make them equal in that all people have their liberties.

I think you have it backwards. Things are turning around 'slowly' IN SPITE of the meddling and people are nervous that continues government expansion will threaten the turnaround.
That larger segments of the population are feeling that way, has put BHO on the defensive...and hence the long windedness.

The left had no qualm over bashing GWB in his pressers. Frankly, I thought he often sounded bafoonish in them. However, many who have had a private one on one conversation (or in a small group) with the man will tell you how he captured the room, was much more intelligent and well spoken than he appeared in front of the camera. I don't see the difference here.

A better answer would have been to say "no you're not" and point Doris to the thread on OhioChatter.com to see several conservative posters complaining about half of America not paying federal income taxes.
