I didn't see a thread about this, so I decided to throw one out there.

This is getting ridiculous. I know people are upset with the government, but things like this just lead to violence plain and simple. Even if it isn't intended, some nutjob will take stuff like this to he extreme. Couple this will Congressmen having their live's threatened, are we headed towards a coupe? (Not really, but damn)

That's nothing. I heard the guy sitting in for Rush this week talking about how "Impeachment" might be the only thing that can save us from collapse of the Republic at this point.

I have also heard Rush and Hannity referring to BHO's administration now as a "regime" in a way that suggests "regime change" (sound familiar) may be necessary right now.

Things will continue to get much worse before they get better.

The group that sent the letters is a fanatical right wing group that believes in the same kind of crazy Illuminati theories and such that all the crazy groups tend to believe. They have been linked to violence before though (Dude on CNN said that a person associated with the group was one of the conspirators of the OKC bombing) so it should be taken seriously. I doubt anything will come of this though.

These people aren't representative of the entire right minded group (obviously) but I think they need to make sure they denounce this and make that distinction clear.

I know a LOT of people right now who are max pissed off at what's going on in Washington but I don't know of even one who advocates threats or violence.

They're all like me....salivating for that first Tuesday in November.....as it should be.

Try not to get too excited over this bullshit from a handful of nut jobs and equate it to the right in general....that's the primary goal of stories like this from leftist media.

Obama is a collectivist, which has socialism as one of it's branches. It's not too much of a stretch to label Obama a socialist.

BTW, as for the story, I see nothing wrong with it. They sent peaceful letters asking people to resign, and say they don't want violence. Where's the problem?

But, it is not constructive, nor in depth. It is usually just thrown out there with no context or in depth discussion to back it up.

Some of the things that I read stated something to the effect of "Resign from office, or you will be removed."

To me that sounds like a threat, and it is interesting that both Dems and Reps. Governors received this. Virginia's Governor received this, and I thought he was the Republican golden boy right now.

If they would have simply been asked to resign, I wouldn't have a problem with it, and I don't think the media would be all over it. The second part of the statement "Or you will be removed" is where the problem lies.

There seems to be an effort afoot from the left to paint those on the right as ready to foment a violent uprising against the government. Perhaps it is their left wing wet dream to see conservatives and those on the right have their necks crushed under the jackboot of the federal government.

We have to hope it doesn't come to that, but there is a reason we fought to get out from under the British government, and as we stray farther and farther away from the ideals this country was founded upon, it becomes more and more possible that something dire like that could happen.

I don't think it is inevitable or anything or that it would even happen soon. I think it could happen when we realize the consequences of what we have become over the past 100 years. When the government can no longer borrow money to pay for the size of the government and they have to hyperinflate the currency to do so, there will be chaos across this country.

This is really a good quote to bring out. If any political figure said any thing remotely close to what Jefferson said, he would be tarred and feathered in the media. And more than likely he would be on the department of homeland security's terrorist watch list.

We are not even close to experiencing the type of political turmoil this country has faced in the past. We are not even close to experiencing the mild political turmoil of the 1960's.

That would be a good argument if the past hundred years hadn't been the best hundred years of our country and arguably any country ever.

Though it would be really awesome if we could start getting spending in check. A better health care plan isn't the only way either, much less military spending would be nice too. Some accountability by those in office would be nice too.

Really only the past 30. In the 30 years after the War, the country really got the debt under control by the mid 70's as it was down to about 20% of GDP. It was really once Reagan took office that spending and deficits got out of control and haven't really ever turned back.

It was all set up long ago though. The debt has ebbed and flowed over the years, but our system was never going to be sustainable. Unions and inflated wages, government subsidies, handouts, and direct involvement. Inflationary money. Monopolies going unchecked by sufficient competition. When you inflate wages and prices above where they should be, you will have to inflate the currency or borrow the money to make up the difference. Once the government starting picking winners, the people voted for the politicians who would make them "winners". Instead of lower wages and lower prices, we have what we have now and $13 trillion in debt that grows faster and faster every day.

Don't blame this all on us Buck....you and your crew had plenty to do with it too

Washington (CNN) – A domestic extremist group has sent letters to more than 30 U.S. governors demanding they resign, the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI said in an intelligence note.

The letters told the governors to vacate their posts within three days, the note said.

DHS and the FBI said there do not appear to be credible or immediate threats of violence attached to the letters.

The group behind the letters has a "Restore America Plan" that calls for the removal of any governor who fails to comply, the intelligence note said.


While DHS has no information that the removal refers to a specific plan for violence, "law enforcement should be aware that this could be interpreted as a justification for violence or other criminal actions," the note said.

Other steps in the group's plan include "establishing bogus courts, calling of 'de jure' grand juries, and issuing so-called 'legal orders' to gain
control of the state," the note said.

States that have received the letters include Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Utah, Arkansas, Maine, Colorado, Rhode Island, and Nevada.

Gov. Jim Gibbons of Nevada received one Monday, and three more Wednesday, one of those by fax, his Chief of Staff Robin Reedy told CNN.

The group behind the letters believes there should be no federal government, Reedy said.

The letters were not handwritten, but did have some handwritten signatures, Reedy told CNN Thursday.

The office had been warned in advance to be on the lookout for the letter, she said.

Gibbons' office stepped up security at the capitol in Carson City after receiving the letters. Everyone had to enter through one entrance, and an X-ray machine and metal detector were brought in. Boulders were placed in front of the capitol so vehicles could not drive close to the building.

Regardless of how big of a threat this is, it's pretty serious. In all honesty, when was the last time something like this has happened (in this magnitude) ? Ever?
