33 year old woman gets 20 months for arranging to have sex with 16 year old boy. I found the whole tone of the article interesting. I have to believe if a 33 year old man was guilty of the same with a 16 year old girl, he would be casted as a monster who society needed protected from.

The thing that makes it weird is the fact different states have different age limits for what the legal age of consent is (16, 17 or 18). When it comes to stuff classed as pornography, legally you have to be at the maximum age of consent.

Take actual fuck-porn for example. There are disclaimers stating the actors are 18+ on these films. It might be legal for people to screw 16-year-olds in Ohio, but it's not legal nationally, so the porn filming standard is 18, as that's the oldest age of consent in our country. It might be legal to do 16-year-olds in Ohio, but it isn't everywhere in the United States, so having materials (pics, vids, etc.) of 16-year-olds that can be distributed nationally should be illegal.

I would say that neither the 33 year old man or woman should be arranging trysts with 16 year old minors and there should be some very stringent penalties for people involved in carrying out these type activities, but with regard to the differences in the law, I think it is fair to say that there is a much much greater chance that violence and even murder might occur in the older man, minor female example than in the older woman, minor male example. this doesn't make the inequities in the law right, but it may explain, at least in part, why society and the law may be harsher in the instance of the older man example. Or not. This is strictly an unsupported opinion and nothing more.
