Recovery.gov is the Obama administration's website designed to let the American people know where the stimulus money is going and what impact that money is having. The problem is that the numbers reported are either lies or mistakes. If you are interested, google recovery.gov and click on news. The number of and kind of mistakes on the website are troubling to say the least.

Here are a couple of links , but there are many more.

It's a big joke. They would have been better served to print the $800 billion in $1 bills and burn them on the street to keep homeless people warm this winter.

But we're supposed to believe that these health care proposals will trim the deficit.

FWIW, I saw Joe Biden on the Daily Show last night and he claims that the mistakes in reporting of stimulus funds being used in "imaginary districts" is because when a project received stimulus funding, the people executing the project would have to self-report and describe how much money they got, how many jobs were created and in what Congressional district but, a lot of American's are stupid (my words, not Biden's) and don't know what district they live in, so they would make up a number when they self reported. Of course, that begs the question as to why the people who run the website wouldn't pick up something like that...

But hey, take it with a grain of salt since it's coming straight from the top and there's no way he'd admit the stimulus was a bust.

I heard a guy, a local contractor who owned a small business with 85 employees, call into a talk radio show the other day discussing the stimulus reporting.

He had 3 or 4 (can't remember) contracts that came from stimulus money, he was told that he had to report that due to the contracts he got, he was to report that they saved or created not just 85 jobs (his whole company) but 85 times the # of contracts he got.

So, if it was 4 contracts that he got (which I think it was) he had to report saving/creating 340 jobs, even though his company didn't hire any new people, and they weren't going to fire any of their 85 had he not got the contracts.

That just blew my mind, but didn't surprise me that they are completely falsifying these numbers and telling the businesses how they have to report the "saved/created" job numbers in order to get the contracts.

He thought it was appaling but said he couldn't turn down the work with where the economy is at.

Really, you don't believe Reid and Pelosi when they say it won't add to the deficit? I don't know how they can say that without busting out laughing.

yeah i saw that piece too. what he said made sense with why the initial reports were off and had to be independtly verified again. but you would think the system would be better to begin with and there would be better accountability than just a self-report back to the government.
