So, I just got on Wiki to look up the record of a UFC fighter and noticed on the site's home page, this was (an excerpt of) the day's featured article:
Instead of paying a grand for my dissolution, I could have EARNED money for her! And if you want to dump the wench, but have kids...you could sell them, too, so you don't have to worry about baggage when hunting for the new year's model!
But times have changed and life sucks now...
HOW AWESOME IS THIS?!?!?!!!!Wife selling was a traditional English practice for ending an unsatisfactory marriage. Instead of dealing with an expensive and dragged-out divorce, a husband would take his wife to market and parade her with a halter around her neck, arm, or waist, before publicly auctioning her to the highest bidder. Any children from the marriage might also be sold along with their mother. Prices paid for wives varied considerably, from a high of £100 (plus £25 each for her two children), to a low of a glass of ale, or even free. The Duke of Chandos bought his second wife at one such sale in Newbury in about 1744. Along with other English customs, wife selling was exported to England's American colonies, where one man sold his wife for "two dollars and half [a] dozen bowls of grogg".

I just watched a movie, "The Mayor of Casterbridge" and he sells his wife in the beginning! haha
But, pays for it later.

It does seem like the sort of activity those DAMN HOLLYWEIRDOS would be against with all their "equal rights to women, let them vote, they should be allowed to do more than bring the menfolk sammichs" bullcrap, so I can see how a piece of crap film would have an honorable wife-selling man get punished for doing the right thing. And people complain about Micheal Moore when THIS is allowed to poison the minds of our people...CenterBHSFan wrote: I just watched a movie, "The Mayor of Casterbridge" and he sells his wife in the beginning! haha

EDIT: Uhhh...the word "Casterbridge" (or specifically the first half of it plus the word "ate") doesn't come into play in this movie, does it? That be a stiff price to pay...

I would have been more than happy to auction off my first wife. It would have saved me money at the time, would save me money now. However, I would be sure to mark her as "as-is. no warranty, no refunds, no exchange. all sales final." I am sure whoever would have bought her would have had her crazy ass back on the auction block within a month of the sale.

I wouldn't have gotten any money for mine since everyone was boinking her for free already. Slutty two shoes.

I'm sure there are days when my husband would gladly trade me for a glass of ale.

Not technically. But metaphorically - he gets the slice about 5 times!
