Michael Jordan came up to bat for the first time in a Chicago White Sox uniform. Playing in a spring training game, Jordan taps back to Texas Rangers pitcher Darren Oliver, who tags out the former National Basketball Association star. Jordan will eventually give up baseball after one season and return to the NBA.

How many of you remember this? I have a lot of thoughts and feelings ablout the whole Jordan to baseball situation. Was his first retirement from the NBA actually a suspension for gambling or other issues? Was there a cover up by the NBA and possible conspiracy with MLB? What about the strange murder of his father?

What did you think about MJ going to the MLB?

The only time I ever saw MJ play baseball was in the movie Space Jam.

yea I remember this and the rumors as to what was behind it.

was this his "suspension?" Possible I suppose. Have no idea what type of hit the NBA and MJ woulda taken if he woulda been publicly suspended from the game for a season or more. Coulda killed the league.

Alot of questions surrounding it.

Thing about conspiracies........the bigger it is supposed to be and involving more people, in your case MJ, the NBA and MLB, the less I believe that someone doesnt come out and leak it.

I just remember that he wasn't even AA talent, but got a lot of attention because of who he is. He was about as good of a hitter as "softball guy" over at the local park.

I'm impressed he was able to go straight to AA baseball and hit .202 though. Really think how amazing that is that he could not play baseball for all those years, quit the NBA, and play minor league baseball

Agreed. I was a pretty good baseball player growing up and through HS but have not played in the past 18 years. I doubt I would crack the Mendoza line at this point in my life.

I'll agree with that. It's one thing for Tim Donaghy to be connected with that stuff; it's another for a legend like MJ.
