Here are some trades that have already occured:

Andy Sutton(NYI) to Ottawa for a 2nd.

Gonna be a pretty quiet trade deadline.

When the two biggest names being mentioned are Ray Whitney and Alexei Ponikarovsky, you know it's not a big trade year.

Some of the rumours are that, Vokoun and Huet will be swapped for each other, and Anton Volchenkov may be moved (contract dispute).

Rumor is Buffalo has a big trade in the works, lol. Hope its true, but I'm not holding my breath.....

I don't know where that rumor is coming from, considering that Darcy Regier has been known to abort trades that were at the paperwork stage due to leaks either from the Buffalo end (which resulted in people being demoted or fired) or the end of the other team involved.

Unless you're going by Eklund, who's about as reliable as my grandfather (who died in 1987).

It's a weird marketplace right now, but I don't think that Whitney and Ponikarovsky will be the biggest names moved.

I think there'll be a decent number of prospects who have fallen on hard times (i.e. Peter Mueller), guys who haven't really developed to any great extent (Wojtek Wolski). I keep hearing that there's a 50:50 shot that Nikita Filatov gets moved in the next 23 hours.

But this is the reality of the salary cap landscape. Teams are concerned about their current cap situation and the cap situation going forward and don't have any interest in taking on huge salaries.

Pittsburgh just made another move, they acquire winger Alexei Ponikarovsky from Toronto for prospect Luca Caputi and defenseman Martin Skoula. Saw the Skoula move coming after they acquired Leopold, although, Shero says Skoula was dealt for salary cap issues.

Phoenix gets Derek Morris from the B's for a draft pick. I would think Boston is going to have to get someone now (although, with their ownership they probably just want to ship any chance of winning out the window).

Good moves by the Pens.

Not sure what happened to Leopold. He was a promising player for Calgary the year they went to the Stanley Cup Finals but hasn't done much since. I like his skill set, though. Could play up given a much better situation and supporting cast.

Alexei Ponikarovsky is solid all-around player. Good size and production. I love picking up guys like this who have around 20 goals, 20 assists. When teams focus their attention on Crosby and Malkin in the playoffs, the secondary scorers can be critical.

I can't wait to see a Poni-Malkin-Dupuis line. Poni forchecks like crazy, and that line can will be great defensively.
