Comment: Last year the Buckeye Local sectional dominated this tournament (something like 28 of the 56 SQ's). By my count you have approx 55-60% of the SQ's coming from Amanda and Licking Heights. Are things that different this season as compared to last? Maybe.....Former D1 power Olentangy, Hilliard Bradley (soon to be a D1 power), and former D3 power Bishop Hartley certainly add to the Central's chances.....and you can't discount the SWCS situation (many D1 standouts moved to D2).

It will be very interesting to see if the Central sectionals have closed the gap with the East sectionals, or in the best case scenario, maybe even tipped the scales towards the Central?

Very interesting! I count 7 predicted qualifiers for Olentangy. That could very well win a district title.

I'm with you.....Olentangy is my pick for the team title. Steubenville was the surprise winner over Claymont and Beaver Local in the Buckeye Local sectional last weekend, so maybe Claymont will not be as formidable as was previously thought

Nobody is counting out anybody. He ranked the four guys who took first at their sectionals. Your kid happened to get the kid who is from what is supposed to be the toughest of the four sectionals in his possible second match. Doesn't mean he is tough, but there are two good indications of skill -- record, and winning his sectional.

Rankings are just for fun... for conversation... so people will bring up other kids and explain WHY they think their kid will get around the others. Then, if you're right, you get bragging rights. It gives us something to do with our nerves and adds to the excitement. Same reason there are rankings in any sport - some even find being left out of the rankings to be motivational.

I cannot see Bertubin winng the 112. From everything I,ve heard I think McComas and Langdon battle it out for the Championship (a rematch of the sectional title). And with the quality of wresters in this weight class you might even see a sleeper sneek in there.

You can't....Fiorucci and Price unfortunately ended on the same half of the bracket.

Best match-up on Friday night? My vote would have to go for Ice vs. Rosch at 145. Last year the highlight of the Friday session was Rosch vs. Garbrandt. Rosch won that one in a VERY entertaining match.....can he do it again?

If anyone can, Conrad can. He has the ability to just really wear his opponents down. If you have wrestled, you'll know how some opponents are just "dense" for their weightclass.....like moving a sack of rocks. From what I have heard from my son and seen, Conrad seems to have this advantage.

The third quarter is tough - but I like McHugh (Olentangy) to clear it against McGath (Ham Township), who deposits Mazik (Indian Creek) to wrestle back in the first round. Langdon (Claymont) v Bertubin (Cambridge) is a brutal quarter down low.
I like McComas, Bertubin, Langdon, and McHugh as those to qualify.

Hutchins (Canal Winchester) clears the third quarter and advances to the semi against McGhee (Steubenville) or possibly Parsons (Licking Valley).
Forced to make picks: Foster v Hutchins for first with Wiltshire and Perez winning money matches.

Berger (Cambridge) qualified for state two years ago as a frosh and has made it seemingly back from the dead as a sectional champion. I like him to hit the semifinals up top. I'll take the undefeated Hobley (Steubenville) to clear that half beating Colvin (London) in the quarter and then Berger in the semi. Wolfe (Licking Hts) v Stitzlein (West Holmes) should be a very good quarterfinal bout. Higgins (Hilliard Bradley) is my pick down in the lower half as a whole.
Qualifiers: Higgins, Hobley, Wolfe, Stitzlein.

I feel confident with Ice, Grandominco, and Rosch as qualifiers with the fourth one up in the air.

Schramm (London) v Eckroth (Harrison Central) would be a terrific semifinal down low, presuming Schramm knocks off Pressley (Canal Winchester) in the quarters.

Totally agree with you. It tends to start with civilized conversation then degrades from there i.e. pointing out use of grammer while bunking it up yourself. I always say it is better to be off the radar than to have a giant bullseye on you. The nerves started yesterday and won't stop until Saturday night. If we are lucky, it will continue through next Saturday. There with out a doubt will be some very good wrestling with upsets and people asking 'where did he come from'.
