Thats good to hear.....that squad is damn near unbeatable.

I wouldn't say Kobe really carried that team, but his defense was unreal. It was a pretty balanced effort.

Yeah, this is what happened BEFORE Kobe took over the Leadership of Team USA.
Typical Lebron leadership, him and his teammates practicing dunks in warm-ups instead of being focused on beating freakin Greece!!!

As much of a team effort it was in 08, Kobe and Carmello were really the 2 driving forces of the team. Lebron was a big help, don't get me wrong, but Kobe and Carmello both had bigger roles imo.

Having these 3 back is tremendous for the national team and keeps the USA as the team to beat.

Don't you fools ever tire of the never ending Kobe/LeBron debate? This garbage has been going on for years. I recommend downloading AIM and continuing it there.

Wade was as much of a "leader" as anyone previously mentioned during the "Redeem Team's" gold medal run.

You gotta love when Kobe/Lebron fans stoop so low as to argue over who "led" a team that didn't need a leader to a gold medal. That team had so much talent that you could have made that team play blindfolded and they probably would have won at least the bronze medal. Is it possible to have mention Kobe and Lebron in the same sentence without the two fan groups (read: cults) engaging in a cock-measuring contest?

They must have been playing blind folded in 2004 and 2006 then.

I like the fact that Coach K is leading these guys again.

Didn't think it was possible for a coach to be able to bring all the superstar egos together and get them to play as one, but for some reason they all do it for Coach K and I'm happy about it

I don't really care about if Kobe fans think he led the team, he didn't plain and simple. Look, when all is said and done, and both Kobe and Lebron are retired selling cars somewhere, people will forget about this silly debate. Lebron will have so many championships and MVP's it won't even be up for discussion and Kobe Bryant will be nothing more than a player that was lucky enough to have been mentioned on the same level as James, and you can take that to the bank.

Colangelo said Lakers center Andrew Bynum and Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo were among the only players who were asked to participate but declined.

wtf

Some guys want to actually have their offseason.

Stars like LeBron, Kobe, D-Wade are drawn to things like this more than those 2nd level players, they want the glory--that's a big part of why they're at the top.

Larry Brown's coaching was the equivalent of a blindfold.

And seriously, who cares who wins the FIBA championships? I've taken dumps that are more meaningful than a FIBA championship.

I agree. And with Kobe on that team, I'll be pulling for Greece.

Mike Brown should be the coach...Not Larry. Gonna have an All Star team, then better hire an All Star coach.

Coach K is perfect to coach the National Team since every single one of those players respect him and the other coaches (Jim Beheim, Nate Mcmillon).

SQ hit the nail on the head. It doesn't matter who "leads" the team in scoring or rebounding or whatever. Just so long as they win the gold.
