I actually don't even think it's that bad of an article.
I was in the Cavs locker room last year, and even if you're not looking, it still appears in your peripherals.
Now, I wouldn't say I was affected by anywhere close to the extremes he discussed, but it wasn't exactly a pleasant experience.
I'd say that, from reading the article, those extremes were satirical. Overall, it looks like a quick column poking fun at a bizarre news story, so the dude could have an easy day. Not a great column or anything, but not the worst I've read.
As for Whitlock, I don't read a great deal of his stuff, but usually like his work when I do. When it comes to the more controversial stuff (like race), I tend to get the feeling he puts thought into what he's trying to say, instead of spewing out a kneejerk reaction.
As for the topic, it reminds me of a story my best friend told me a few years back. While in his 20s, he bounced from job to job in the Columbus area (usually sales and restaurants). At one of them, he was working with a former Buckeye lineman who had a cup of coffee in the NFL (can't remember the name) and would tell stories about that experience. One of them kinda touched on the "locker room pecker" thing and essentially said that (a) some dude on his team was a monster who pretty much flaunted what he had and (b) female reporter Leslie Visser was known as someone who'd openly stare below the waist. There might have been more to the story, but those are the only two points I remember.
