War movie comes out on DVD today.
Was wondering if it was any good. Fairly realistic? Imagine it takes liberty of the truth and what really happend, as most movies.

What I wanna know is the movie a hack film by some producer with an agenda?

^ I don't think it is a movie with an agenda. Some critics have said it could be the best war movie ever made. I haven't seen it, but it will probably be up for best picture at the academy awards.

I'm going to watch it tonight. . . really hoping for a non-agenda type movie.

Does anyone else have any input?

I saw it in theaters, and I usually find "war" movies predictable and/or boring, but I think this is one of the best films I've ever seen.

I didn't see an agenda in it, nor did anyone I know who has seen it. But, I also wasn't looking for one. Kathryn Bigelow directed it, she also directed The Weight Of Water, Point Break, and K-19: The Widowmaker.

Hahaha. . . If Johnny Utah is in this movie. . . it has potential to be the greatest war movie of all time!

I watched it a couple days ago and it was fantastic. Not your typical war movie where the action is balls to the wall, but the characters were played very well.. Definitely the best war movie I've ever seen, in the fact that it didn't try to glorify anything, the story was very well done and you never really knew what was going to take place next...

I saw it the other day. Far from the best war movie I've ever seen. Wasn't mind blowing or anything like some say.

Saw it today. Very good flick. Not the "greatest war movie ever" but a very, very good flick.

Great movie. Saving Private Ryan has a special place in my movie-loving heart. . . but this was a good one. . . a definite contender for the Academy Awards.

This is a good film.

Might not be the typical dramatic war movie but there is enough action and suspense and I like the character study.

You have the main character guy who isn't afraid to die. He's not even counting how many days are left. He's exactly where he wants to be.

In contrast the other guy wants everything done according to protocol. He's counting the days and still has things he wants to do at home.

Netflix has it listed as "Long Wait" I'm getting strange brew instead. I've heard amazing things, If I got the DVD and not Blu-ray I think I could get it quicker.

For all the Netflix users, do you pick movies based on what the Netflix think predicts you'll rate it? I got YPF this weekend, and according to Netflix I would have given it 4.5 stars. It sucked ass. I gave it 1 star. This is the first movie I've let netflix recommend and they whiffed. Is this typical, or can the Netflix rating be trusted?

I don't pay attention to the recommended movies... I just pick out the movies I know I want to see... The only movies I check out that I could be iffy on are instant streams..
