A WR and a TE. I think a legit TE would make a world of difference, especially on a team committed to the run.

I love the people calling for Graham's head.

How about Palmer's 18/36 performance...or his 58.3 passer rating.

How about the fact that Johnson and Coles had some huge drops.

All of that is forgiven but Graham's 6 points in a 10 point loss are reason enough for people to call for his head? Sounds good to me.

I disagree. Until you can consistently beat good teams, you won't be a playoff caliber team.

What big games early? The only big game you guys won was against the Packers, and that was in week 2. A mediocre Denver team doesn't count as a big game, neither do victories over Pittsburgh. I'll give you Baltimore because Baltimore is solid.

Injuries are a part of the game. But Carson Palmer was a bigger issue than injuries.
Winning your division is a lock to get to the playoffs, so all those games are big, and those go the furthest in winning your division which should always be a primary goal.

Key word being "consistently". And by playoff caliber team, I mean actually win games in the playoffs.

What's the use if you just make the playoffs all the time and never win?

I disagree. You don't need to consistently beat good teams to be a "playoff caliber" team. But you do have to, to be able to advance deep in the playoffs!

I'll agree about the division. I'm just saying that this division isn't as tough as it has been in recent years.

But if you want to be a good team, you have to beat other good teams, which you guys struggle with.

Graham has failed to come through in the clutch in multiple occasions. And if he hits either one of those, it is a different ballgame (down one score instead of two). If he hits them both, the Bengals still may not win but to simply say he only cost 6 points in a 10 point game is misguided.

If you can't beat good teams, then how do you know if you can beat playoff teams?

Yeah you can't just look at the points. The game is probably much different if those FGs are made. Especially towards the end of the game.

The 2002 Browns and the 2007 Browns seemed to be making progression too...

The Bengals are set-up to make money. If you can keep the locals' interest enough by just making the playoffs every few years with the revenue sharing, and get the taxpayers to finance alot of your expenses, you're owners are in the catbird seat!

I really think that Palmer's inconsistency is holding back the offense, and obviously the loss of Chris Henry didn't help the WR situation.

I'm really liking what they did with the OL, however, with rotating Andre Smith in there on specific run plays. He'll be a force in a few years.

A playoff caliber team, IMO, is a team that can beat good football teams and compete in the playoffs.

IMO, Cincy was the worst team in the AFC playoff bracket. I think Houston would have given the Jets a better game.

But Cincy did their jobs and won the division, and you can't ask for much else.

You don't! That is the fun of the playoffs, seeing if you can. I think they might have been able to beat some if they didn't have a disproportionate amount of key, season ending(and some being the last playing of their lfe) injuries!

A year away! That's what I'm talking about, getting to the playoffs every few years just makes up another dose of Kool-Aide to keep the money maker alive and well! It would have really been not good for the Bengals, with the economy the way it is, to be out of the race early, so they got their infrequent competetive playoff season at a perfect time!

Sucks being a Bengals fan right now, But I was very impressed w/ the turn around from last year... I don't think we were all healthy except for weeks 1-3 or something like that. Bengals need a deep threat WR to take the pressure off Chad/Coles b/c Caldwell goes over the middle a lot and has done a good job at it. Draft a TE unless they think Chase Daniels can do something next year. And just hope the Defense is healthy next year... WHO DEY!!
