The fire was not easy to get with my cheap camera.
Well I feel great today. I
was mad at myself for not going earlier for pre race. A couple years ago I got some good car pics in line for tech. I'm glad now because it was long day. Traffic was the best ever getting out because a good number of fans didn't have time for road repair. I hung out for awhile after and the tunnel had a long wait to get out, but after that it was 10 minutes home.
I saw Carl Edwards stop to pose for a fan picture during the red...as he was going into the port-a-john

It was hilarious. A lot of drivers had to go during the delay. Brad K. stepped out and he tells 3 or 4 other drivers in line "Do NOT go in there". It was so funny, and strange to be watching this instead of watching them on the track. They all signed some autographs, even Smoke. Joe Gibbs was very nice and you can tell he enjoys talking with and signing for kids. Montoya had a flat screen on his pit box big enough to watch from my seat. The tv's at our seats had sun glare until the sun went down, but the sun kept us warmer than the shaded grandstands for a long time. Red Bull had a hospitality party I should have taken pics of. Big flat screens, tall stainless outdoor heaters, food, drinks, dj music, comfy furniture, hot girls, all right behind pit row. Red Bull has style.
The race was great. It was anybody's up for grabs the whole time. There were a half dozen who were the best at some point, but I was surprised how well they all adjusted for night temps the last 30 laps. They all had a chance at the end and the double wide restarts were great because it created more passing. I think Biffle would have won under the old green white checker rule (last week). It was worth it to hang around until the end. Someone said to call it 'the 24 hours of Daytona, part two.' If they had started the race same time as last year, it would have been really late and more fans would be mad. 3 extra hours is ridiculous at a Nascar race. The races are too long already. Jamie McMurray led 2 laps. I hit #1 on my scanner and heard him say 'OH MY GOD !' on the radio. He has been racing here many years in the go karts. Daytona is already special for Jamie.
