Forget about coaching adjustments, team speed, X's and O's, or the other team being better than OSU. Here are the real reasons why the Buckeyes lost 3 BCS games in a row:
1) all three games (Florida, LSU, Texas) played in a primetime slot on a Monday night. I now hate Monday night BCS games. Thankfully, '10 Rose Bowl played on a Friday. 2006 Fiesta Bowl (vs. ND) played on a Monday, but in a late afternoon time slot.
2) all three games broadcast by Fox. I now hate Fox, even the games not involving OSU. '06 FIesta, '10 Rose broadcast by ABC, and called by Brent Musberger. I like Brent.
3) Beanie Wells/ Ray Small. All games with those two guys in the lineup, OSU lost. Since Beanie was the best player on the field against LSU (maybe vs. Texas), we'll blame Ray Small.
4) Coin toss- OSU lost coin toss in all three games. Won coin toss vs. ND (OK, they also lost the toss vs. Oregon, but decided to win anyway).
5) Scored first- Buckeyes scored first all three games. ND scored first in '06 Fiesta (OK, OSU scored first vs. Oregon, but decided to win anyway).
Any other superstitious theories as to why Ohio State lost 3 BCS games in a row, because we know it had nothing to do with inferior talent/coaching or showing up and playing up to full abilities.
