With one month to go, SLL 1st Team All-League: Weisenborn, Bassitt, Rolf, Wonnel, Tyson?

This would be my guess. Although TJ Waldock is making a big push.

I think you may be right. I'll have to do some research. If you are right, TJ may be the 6th.

It would take a really strong TJ finish and Elmwood finish for a 1st team selection. If Eastwood wins it, it will go to an Eagle.

Faykosh, Bassitt, Weisenborn, Rolf, Jacobsen, and Egbert were first teamers last season I believe, with Rolf taking POY. Which is another good prediction, will Rolf repeat? He is playing pretty solid again this year and being the incumbent will definately help his cause, but there are quite a few others that are worthy of the award. Who gets it?

Probably go with Lee Renner from Gibsonburg on 1st Team to round out the previously mentioned 5 guys.

The POY will go to the winning team! Genoa is out of it unless something strange happens. Weisenborn or Rolf again.

Final from Elmwood

Elmwood 60
Genoa 44

The Royals continue to impress. Defense forced 22 TOs and they shot very well. Michael Huettner (off the bench) and Jay hannah led with 13. TJ Waldock had 12, Reid Rothenbuhler 8 pts 4 ast and 4 steals, and Adam Tyson with 5pts and 7 steals. This team is really coming together and playing solid basketball. Five wins in a row and 7 out of 8, all by double digits.

They did it with an aggressive press and a solid half court defense.

And they made shots when they had to.

Royal K no disrespect to your team but there is no way with the talent we have and the size advantage we had on you guys we should have lost by 16. I understand you guys are playing well but come on the talent we have down low and Bassitt being one of the best guards in the league how on earth is this team (8-6)(4-4). I do not understand why Clark's playing time has actually shrunk even though he has had a hot hand of late. The kid has earned a spot on the starting lineup and would be a great benefit to this team and could really shoot teams out of just packing it inside on Wonnell and Lester

Look at your shooting %. It was over 50%. Shooting wasn't the problem. An aggressive defense which forced numerous TOs was your problem. And no, you can't take anything away from the Royals. They earned it with a very good game plan and execution. But you are right when you say Genoa has the height advantage. But sometimes that doesn't do it.

It's not a matter of height advantage. It is obvious it took the first half of the year to figure things out for Royals. I'm not sure if you are blaming things on overmyer, but that has nothing to do with the way elmwood played. This team, even more these seniors didnt lose a game in middle school and it is starting to show. The way this team is overcoming the height advantage of the opposing teams is starting to become pretty remarkable. This game makes this fridays game at eastwood much more important. A win in the team up north's territory puts elmwood in position to contend for the title at otsego.

I have been told by 2 sources that Genoa had 30 turnovers or more and the other said about 40. They were serious. Can someone get me an exact number here. Also grab the record book.

ClassyPoster- No matter what you say about this Genoa team you always, ALWAYS, have to give the respect to the other team. Better teams lose all the time. It happens. You tip your hat and move on. NOW, I can also say that it is really really scary being a genoa fan on how BAD this team is playing. When you have the best 2 players arguably on the same team along with a very good Jon Lester....they should win the SLL. Maybe trip up here and there but they should win. SHOULD. Like i said, you tip your hat to Elmwood, Eastwood, and Otsego. They are the better team. Genoa doesnt deserve to even be talked with when it comes to the title anymore. Your going to see this team do well against the scrubs and lose 2 or 3 more against the studs.

I know everyone from Genoa is looking at it but the next couple years could be very interesting (in the bad sense). The talent level to balance out the lack of other things will be gone!

Eastwood is playing pretty well now and Elmwood will have it's work cut out for itself at Eastwood this weekend. Meanwhile, those pesky Knights from Otsego get another win and remain in a flat footed tie with the Eagles. They haven't been winning very pretty, but what's prettier.....a win or a loss? Right now, it may just be that Elmwood is playing the best of the contenders, and I think it is more than safe to say that Genoa is now officially an "also ran". If Elmwood can pull it off at Eastwood and Otsego wins their next game, doesn't Otsego pull into undisputed first place again? And don't they have the remaining key games on their schedule at home? I still like the improbable Otsego Knights to figure a way to sneak off with this year's SLL Title. In any event, regardless of how it actually pans out, it will be exciting.
