Watching the replay it looks pretty serious.

I dont know why he was even in the game to begin with.

People won't be bashing Indy's coach now will they.

All it takes is one play, why have it in a meaningless game. If you are going to get hurt, might as well have it be in the playoffs imo.

Got this from Rotowire.com

Welker left Sunday's game against Houston with a knee injury and was taken to the locker room on a cart.
Spin: This doesn't look good. Welker needed assistance to leave the field, and the trainers looked rather worried. Welker himself was visibly distraught on the sideline. No prognosis has been issued, but Patriots fans might want to prepare for the worst

If he did indeed tear his ACL, New England will be a 1 and done in the playoffs.

Why??? Injuries are part of the game. Should coaches also stop practice because someone might get injured??

You must not be watching the guy that replaced Welker, Edelman. He plays just like Welker.

And its not a "meaningless" game. I'm sure NE would rather play the 2 seed SD then the 1 seed Indy.

Haha, do you honestly think guys like Manning, Brady, Welker, Addai, Wayne etc. actually practice full contact in the NFL.

This isn't HS football where its full contact. Hell nowadays, the important starters in HS aren't allowed to be hit depending upon the school.

These guys go 100% one day of the week, sometimes two depending upon scheduleling Sunday/Thursday game etc.

Why would they rather play San Diego? Indy will choke like they always do when they shut down in the regular season. I look at the Chargers as the AFC favorites now and think whoever plays the Colts in the AFC semis has a great shot at beating them.

So there is a chance he might miss time next year?

I still have to question last week's decision in Indy. They were playing for more than the Pats were this week. NE was playing for the 3 seed. Indy was playing for history. Coach Caldwell took a shot at history away from his players. Indy has shown this decade they don't do well in the playoffs when they shut it down at the end of the regular season. I thought that playing for history and keeping that edge would have been enough for them to play eveybody. Plus, Peyton Manning has NEVER missed a game due to injury in his career. Why does everybody pretend that he's all of a sudden going to get hurt. He plays behind the best line in the NFL, and has (I believe) been sacked fewer times than any other QB in the NFL.

I question all the teams that take a game off. If you are playing a team that is not in playoff contention then take your day off...however if you are playing a team that is alive in the playoff hunt, you owe it to the integrity of the game to play your best to win.....you also can't kick sand in the face of history. I am sorry, but sadly the Colts are destined now to lose their first game.

Edelmen: 10 catches for 103 yds, I'd say he is pretty talented and will only get better.

He very well might play like Welker, but he doesnt have the heart and ability that Welker has. I consider him the best WR on that team.

Baltimore plays New England in the Wild Card round and will no doubt double cover Moss now that Welker is out.

Not having Welker against Baltimore will be a huge disadvantage and New England could get knocked out early.

He had a great game. But Welker was a top 5 WR this year.

I still say those players want a superbowl trophy and not to be the 2nd team to go undefeated in a season. Miami will be the standard, with the team going 19-0 having the asteriks next to their name.

"with the team going 19-0 having the asteriks next to their name. "

Out of curiosity what would the asterisk be? "We would have beat the crap out of the 1972 Dolphins"? A halfway decent Big 10 team would have beaten that squad today, what did their O-line average - 260 lbs?
