Side note Whitehall didn't send all of their varsity wrestlers and there where some other teams that had kids missing today. It seems like every tournament that I have been at this year has been low in numbers. Entry grids and pre tournament numbers look good however and what ever the reason coaches have to scratch kids the day of.

Haven't seen Lipscombe's name listed in the last few Westerville Central outings . Is he hurt ?

Looks like WC & WH brought mostly JV wrestlers.

Agreed. Was a totally @-hole thing of CFD to post (unless I am completely misinterpreting it). Most of these programs don't have feeders, or non-substantial ones. Plenty of them go to bigger more competitive tournaments throughout the year. Its totally appropriate for programs in these stages of development to get together and wrestle against one another where more kids will get more competitive matches for a change. The dismissive tone really rubbed me wrong.

I for one am happy to see Briggs hosting a tournament I remember back in the day we were only aloud to host a 4 team quad so hats off for hosting.

As far as the post about the kids teams sent so what I think it's much better to send a Jv wrestler to a varsity tournament then a coach who sends his varsity team to a Jv tournament.

Westerville Central sent our Varsity B team if you will and 5 starters who had missed significant time due to injury. Of these 5, 3 were frosh or sophomores. It was either this or have them miss matches. There were some good weight classes and some that were light. I was excited to be in this tourney and help them get it up and running, as Graham's B team used to attend this every year and people like Cordell Longstreath (state champ, Dapper Dan participant) were former Briggs champions. I find it ironic that as a supporter of Westerville North, CFD's Varsity team (my opinion one of the best in the district) just finished the Licking Heights tourney, which was a bit down this year as well. Some things are unavoidable. Do I blame them for not going to Medina every week? Absolutely not. Gives better kids a break and younger kids an opportunity. It is about matches, and not all tournaments can be Powerade, Beast of the East or Medina. I mean, I am sure Briggs would be better had Franklin Regional, Apple Valley and Broken Arrow not dropped out, but I can't control other teams. Maybe next year those teams will stop ducking us. I would say when some idea comes across your mind that disparages kids who are sticking out a tough sport just keep the thought to yourself so you don't sound like a chump.
