To me...when one says life partner that sounds like they are gay.
Yeah, might have been the same person....I noticed it when they were talking about some guy the other night, and referred to his "partner" - turned out he was divorced and the woman referred to was his girlfriend. Could actually be the proper use of the word, but uncommon.
At first I thought maybe they were talking about a business partner...could have sworn it was a different couple.
Wait, I remember....think it was an article I read about a guy on the flight - living in Malaysia, I think - had his days mixed up and was going to miss the plane, but his partner in Beijing called and told him to hurry up...and then later in the story it became clear they were actually a couple and looking for an apartment together in Malaysia. Odd thing was I think they actually work for the same company, so they were, in fact, business partners!
