Michigan State (6-1, 3-0)
Jacksonville State (5-1) – Who?
Eastern Michigan (2-5) – Who?
Wyoming (3-4) – Who?

Ohio State (5-1, 2-0)
Navy (3-4) – Not a good team
Kent State (1-6) – Who?
Cincinnati (3-3) – Not a good team

Maryland (5-2, 2-1)
James Madison (4-3) – Who?
South Florida (3-4) – Not a good team
Syracuse (3-4) – Not a football school

Rutgers (5-2, 2-1)
Washington State (2-5) – Been better than their record shows but still not a good team
Howard (1-7) – Who?
Navy (3-4) – Not a good team
Tulane (2-5) – Who?

Penn State (4-2, 1-2)
UCF (4-2) – Ok win they aren’t even close to the team they were last year
Akron (4-3) – Ok MAC team
UMASS (2-6) – Who?

Minnesota (6-1, 3-0)
Eastern Illinois (2-5) – Who?
Middle Tennessee (5-3) – Ok team
San Jose State (3-3) – Who? (You’re words not mine)

Nebraska (6-1, 2-1)
Florida Atlantic (3-4) – Who?
McNeese State (4-2) – Who?
Fresno State (3-5) – Not a good team
Miami (5-3) – Best win for B1G so far again it’s again an average team from the ACC (Who pretty much every Big 10 fan says is easily the worst power 5 conference)

Iowa (5-2, 2-1)
Northern Iowa (3-4) – Who?
Ball State (2-5) – Who?
Iowa State (2-5) – Not a good team
Pitt (4-3) – Another win against an average ACC team

Wisconsin (4-2, 1-1)
Western Illinois (3-5) – Who?
Bowling Green (5-3) – Decent MAC team… unless you’re Classy then you think they are the best.
South Florida (3-4) – Not a good team
You're missing the point. The point of this wasn't to say that the Big Ten has all these great non-conference wins. The point was to demonstrate that the SEC doesn't have all these great magical wins over "powerhouse" teams either! No one is saying the Big Ten has beaten any good teams; yet MANY people are stating that the SEC has all these "great wins". Please... show me "all these great wins".

Can't believe I'm going to actually say this, but "Reps".

I am a Florida State fan. I grewup in Florida in the late 80's to the mid 90's before the "bandwagon" stuff comes out.

Also SB, I got your point perfectly clear. I was essentially just saying the same thing sleeper did but giving you the visual of it. If you would have read my other posts on the matter(the one to S&L) you would have seen where I also said the SEC is overhyped. But they are still the best conference.

There really is no way to say what the best conference is. Conference dominance wasn't a thing until CBS/ESPN signed huge media deals with SEC schools and then the conference just happened to have the best team the past few years. Alabama being dominant doesn't and shouldn't make the East any less shitty or the bottom half of the SEC any less shitty. Miss St is a surprise but really the other teams are just garbage.

IMO, a team like Georgia is no different than Minnesota, but you'll never see Minnesota getting the same hype... mostly because SEC.

Well, that and how Minnesota lost to the one competent team they've played so far, with their wins being over nobodies. Georgia played three teams ranked when they played them (1 ACC, 2 SEC) and went 2-1 against that bunch. The only real similarity there is they both are 6-1. One might be a bit overrated and one might be a bit underrated, but to say they're no different is a major stretch.

A better comparison would be Georgia and 16th-ranked Nebraska, who at least was very competitive against a good team in their one loss (to Michigan State, which is far better than Georgia's loss to an okay, but not particularly good, South Carolina) and has one somewhat good non-conference win (Miami, who isn't that great, but is a better win than anything Minnesota has).

Well, if your statement is to take the media exaggeration of the SEC and flip it to a double-exaggeration against them, kudos!

They are the same in the sense that they are both terrible. Georgia fucking blows; every single year.

Last nights implosion by VT killed any possible chance OSU had. As long as there are any other 1 loss SEC, Big 12 or PAC left the Bucks are screwed. The new QB excuse might have worked until a 3 loss Canes spanked the the team that beat us.

Well, it is the 2nd best offense in the Pac-12 they are facing. But, Cal has a worse defense.
So, taking the over looks really good so far.
Oregon should still win...

Haha exactly. When the B1G starts winning national championships year in and year out like the SEC then - yeah - points taken. Until then.....

Ehh, to me I always take it as the SEC is 1 sure, but they are not golden and unflawed. They are overrated in the sense they are so propped up that it is unreasonable they are ranked so highly. That bias does show itself in the polls as they have better chance to move up or not drop as far based on conference perception.

Again, they are the best, but they are not head and shoulders above the Pac-12 or the Big 12 and sense they are propped so high, it is fair to say they are overrated compared to where they should be.

Put it another way. The SEC is ranked like an A+, over 95% when in reality they are more like a 91% or 92% while the say Pac-12 is like a B ranked around an 88%. So, the perception is about a 15% gap when in reality it is around 4%. That is technically overrated.

The SEC gets the benefit of the in-conference hype and pre-season rankings. I said it.

However, look at their OOC schedule AND wins and you will find more OOC games against quality opponents than anyone else.

#11 K-State, 1 loss to an SEC team
#18 East Carolina, 1 loss to an SEC team
#21 Clemson, 1 of 2 losses to an SEC team
#22 West Virginia, 1 of 2 losses to an SEC team

Sure, they all play a Sun Belt or FCS opponent, that's basically the same as playing a MAC opponent. The biggest reason for those games are proximity of the opponent and whose pockets are being lined.

Kent State is really no different than Charleston Southern or Georgia Southern.

Is there an SEC bias in the polls (which supposedly don't matter anymore)? Yes. But is the SEC better than the other Power 5 conferences? Definitely.

Again, until another conference steps up and consistently wins national championships, that ranking bias for the SEC will remain in place.

Fun facts (after an admittedly quick look-up):

In the BCS era, the SEC has 26 BCS bowl appearances with 17 victories. 10 of those BCS appearances were for the national championship and the SEC won 9 of the 10.

In the BCS era, the B1G has 28 BCS bowl appearances with 13 victories. 3 of those BCS appearances were for the national championship and the B1G won 1 of the 3. Thank God for Ohio State.

In the BCS era, the Big 12 has 21 BCS bowl appearances with 12 victories. 5 of those BCS appearances were for the national championship and the Big 12 won 2 of the 5.

In the BCS era, the ACC has 26 BCS bowl appearances with 8 victories. 6 of those BCS appearances were for the national championship and the ACC 2 won 2 of the 6.

In the BCS era, the PAC 12 has 22 BCS bowl appearances with 15 victories. 3 of those BCS appearances were for the national championship and the PAC 12 won 1 of the 3.

BCS appearances goes to the B1G.
BCS wins goes to the SEC.
BCS championships goes to the SEC...by a mile.
BCS winning % goes to the PAC 12 at 68%.

Quit siting BCS stats...they don't mean shit now, the realignments that came mostly late in the BCS life span negated all that. I'm the smartest person on this board and while I'm a huge Bucks fan I will concede the SEC is standing above the other 4 power conferences at the moment and will more than likely place 2 teams in the play-offs and probably have a legit bitch it shoulda been 3. Don't for a second think TV money isn't going to have some influence on trying to spread the 4 teams somewhat regionally.
