So depth at 285 with 6 names, but not at 132 with 6 names??? Allllrighty then!! LOL

This is just my opinion,but I dont think bucksman is as clued into the CD as he thnks he is..

I believe most of these weights are 6-8 deep..State champ deep?..No..At least district level(some beyond) deep?..Yes

He has probably never been to the Darby district in person + has never witnessed the depth..Is it Northern Ohio depth?..No..Still solid kids 6-8 deep though..

He has kids at wrong weghts as well..

Everyone is not a state champ with straight A's who looks like Brad Pitt..Lots of kids work there arrsses of and he disrespects them..Kind of an Arrrsss if u ask me..

Jmo, but I see a possible state champ at 7 weight classes! Pretty impressive for "the lowly" Darby district!!

I don't think Bucksman means disrespect ... he's commenting relative to the state as a whole. "Depth" probably means guys that have a legitimate shot at placing at the state, based on actual performance thus far, as opposed to wishful thinking.

Last year Darby had 23 placers, a little below its prorated share of 28, which would be one-fourth. Twelve were in the first 4 classes (even with Wimer out). That means we had 11 of the 80 placers in the other 10 classes ... that's not very deep. Up to the guys to show more this year!

182, 220, and HVY are all weights with 7+ legit guys. Guess that does not entail depth.

We have multiple weights where 3 guys are likely state placers, and at least 4 weights where we have likely state finalists, lol. Blows my mind the lack of respect our district gets.
At 113, Lee (Marysville) just DOMINATED the returning state champ. Probably writes him off because he didnt place at the toughest tournament in the country. (sarcastic tone for that last sentence.) Not to mention Laney (GM) who is a returning state semi-finalist.

I guess it will take two or three team state titles from our district to get some respect.

He could mean "depth" at 285 in that there are others who could make some noise and test those he listed. I"d include Gahanna's Nader, Darby's Miller, and possibly....possibly...Scioto's Sawicki amongst that group....anyone in that group is a quick head 'n arm from beating one of the 6 listed above.

iGranby says we have 4 likely state finalists. Probably right, and that would be considered shallow when there are 28 finalists and 4 districts. If all were equal, we would have 7 finalists and 3.5 champs.

I certainly hope we do end up with 14 or more in the semis, and 7 or more in the finals.

Also, listing lots of guys who have a shot at reaching the state doesn't necessarily make a class "deep." If the qualifiers have little chance of placing, it just means there is local parity, but at a lower level than in other parts of the state.

Just making a point about the numbers that back up the "not deep" type of discussion.

I agree that local parity does not necessarily equal overall state 'depth', but I never really looked at the conversation to be from the POV of State placers. I looked at it in the context of District placers/State qualifiers. I consider a weight "deep" (in this context) if you would have a hard time predicting the final 4 placers in a particular weight class with great certainty and the weight class is at least reasonably talented.

In essence, I think many have their own definitions and own perspective for such things.

Bucksman's delivery can be a little harsh but for the most part the Central District has not been as productive at the state level. I believe this year will be an especially strong year with top end talent in the lower middle weights. I see the Central district producing 7 finalists this year (Lee, Laney, Wimer, Smith, Demas, Kowalski, Pfarr) with 4 being favorites to win the title (Lee, SMith, Demas, Kowalski). In addition there are a lot of other guys with state qualifier and placement credentials that should be looking to move up the podium. Should a guy like Furnas, Disabato, Penzone, Rooney or Rollo get hot you could even see a few more finalist from this group.
