Alright list em up! Who you got?

ITC #3 Westerville North @ #5 Hilliard Darby.
Winner takes the lead in the Cardinal with probable 3 horse race with #6 Bradley.

WHY IS THIS MATCH TAKING PLACE AGAIN IN THE FIRST WEEK OF THE LEAGUE DUALS!
And during finals no doubt!
Come on! Who is responsible for scheduling?

To play devil's advocate, it actually makes good sense to have it first. Everyone is eligible, statistically fewer injuries (as less of the season has elapsed) and, for teams like these (with a significant amount of talent and great coaches), a first meeting will simply set the stage for a potential regional final that will allow both sides to strategize to optimize their chances of winning a more important matchup down the road.

Sorry snuggly, but when you have almost 2/3 of your line up as football players playing meaningful games all season and into the playoffs, it doesn't make sense AT ALL!
Its tuff to get to wrestling shape and to optimum weight that quickly.
this should be late in the season!

Certainly I understand all of this, and overall, I would tend to agree. But every cloud has a silver lining, and I thought I would give you a couple.

Darby lost the 1st week of the playoffs, almost 6 weeks ago. Should be enough time to be in shape and close to optimal weight.
I think Darby wins it! : thumbup:

...and another: Less likely for the entire Westerville North squad to be knocked out by skin funk.

I hear you though, cthelites, would be a great capper to the regular season.

I've long been curious how the OCC handles league schedules, duals/tris/quads, who gets home, etc. Anyone know? Do coaches put in preferences? Do they get together and combine duals into tri's on their own? Anyone know how it works?

Lots to deal with in wrestling for sure. That sucked what happened last yr!
We had some kids get the funk right out of the gate after a scrimmage so there is another week lost after the week off(or less since there is such an important match on the schedule so early)they got after the football season. I don't think one should consider the eligibility part for any sport...if you can't remain academically eligible they shouldn't be near any sport.
i know that both coach grant and moody want this pushed back later in the yr.
remember last yr was the first time occ pushed their duals up into Dec because of the state series.
im just saying there is too much riding on it to have it this early.
and just to be clear, I'm not making any excuses. We had to deal with it last yr and had two playoff games.
I'm just saying...ITS STUPID!

What?????

If you are making decisions regarding scheduling based on eligibility timelines something is drastically wrong.

I agree with lights I for one am happy our league plays out in middle to late January I mean no team can control everything thing but a later date gives both teams a chance to develop into championship form. At any rate I like what both HD and WN coaches have built I am sure it will be a fun dual good luck to both teams.

I am not saying that. I am not sure how you even culled that interpretation from my post. I was simply thinking of positives to having a match this important this early in the year. One of them being that ineligibility has not taken effect yet, therefore not excluding anyone as of yet. I agree that you SHOULD be eligible but that is not reality. After the first of the year, many teams will look drastically different unfortunately, that is all.

If both coaches want the date changed, they can both agree to change it. That simple!

I agree with the argument above but my biggest problem with the schedule is its in the middle or finals week. I don't think any matches should be scheduled during finals week.
