He said all sins are sins and those will be judged at the gates of heaven. He also said he loves everyone. But because he doesn't believe gays should marry he's getting run through the ringer.

The left hate Phil Robertson. A Christian who didn't graduate college that became a millionaire without handouts.

Right, but he also compared being homosexual to fucking a horse.

So don't leave that out.

"Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there," he says. "Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men."
I'm not disagreeing with you in this thread, by the way.

But

"sins are sins" ="homosexuality=bestiality"

In todays America, say what you want then apologize and backtrack and all is usually forgiven. Stick to your convictions and dont apologize and be demonized by most. The first is easy, your message will still be put out there and covered by the media for days or weeks, but you are still forgiven because you apologized! I wont ever understand that.

...nor murder, nor theft, nor ill thoughts in opposition to God's will, nor words which speak without reverence to God.

There isn't any difference if it separates the offender from God.

This is correct. Look, I'm probably the least person to talk about religion, but I am aware that certain sects of Christianity believe what bases loaded posted. That is their right. Other religions have beliefs that would probably be crazy to most people.

And to Queen City Buckeye's excellent post, anyone should have the right to object to that belief or speech. And in turn anyone should have the right to tell those who objects they are absolute morons unless you are hurt in any way.

In the same sentence he compared it to sleeping with a bunch of women too. It was also an answer to the question "what in your mind is sinful". Full quote: "What, in your mind is sinful? Start with homosexuality and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men." He then goes on and names adulterers, idolaters, greedy, drunkards, and others.

So no, he didn't compare it to bestiality any more than he compared alcoholism or sleeping around to bestiality. Reading comprehension people!!

Finally...I'm not saying I agree with his belief, but he trys to explain it to GQ that this is what he believes. Its unfathomable to the journalist that someone could believe such a work of fiction I'm sure and he/she was probably chubbing up at the headlines the article was about to make.

They may not be comparable in man's eye. Has someone actually said that they were socially comparable?

Neither the act nor thought nor word matters if it separates man form God. Separation is separation. That's the point of sin.

The only people who are losing there minds are the people making this sort of statement. I've seen 10 times as many "people need to stop freaking out, damn society sucks now" posts than I have anything else.

And of course an organization like GLAAD will put out a press release it's literally their function.

Also, there's been lots of news coverage regarding antigay laws in Africa and Russia and elsewhere. I don't see how anyone gets the idea that people are freaking out. Hell, nobody who thought his comments were wrong made a thread about it. But we have this thread to rant about how its unfair for anyone or his employer to disagree with the guys opinion.

When you group things together, is that not a comparison of some sort? Come on. A sin is a sin? That's ridiculous. Is a crime a crime?

You're all fucking retarded. If I owned a business and one of my employees said shit like that to my customers, you better believe I'm firing his ass whether I agree with it or not. Therein lies the problem with television and celebrities, everything you say in front of the camera is going to be shown to your customer base, ESPECIALLY if it's controversial.

People really have no idea what freedom of speech even means anymore. He's not being arrested you ignorant fucks. Freedom of speech != freedom from consequences.

It's a human societal act comparison, yes. It's not a relationship strength with God comparison.

If it separates man from God, it's a sin....no matter the thought, word or action.
