Looks like the rotation is set for some time now and Gibson will be the guy seeing less time. Match ups could force more minutes to Gibson who has shot the ball extremely well this season.

What happens when Powe, who has stated he could play right now, gets back? The team will be deep but needs to continue to play consistently.

Guys like JJ, Gibson, and Z with a buyout are looking like trade pieces are now. Antwain Jamison is on the Cavs radar right now, with the Cavs wanting to do a Z for Jamison buyout trade. The Wizards want something more other than cap relief for either Jamison or Butler and really do not want to send Jamison to Cleveland lol. With no team in their right mind willing to take Arenas, the Wizards will be desparate to trade some of their higher paid players.

I like Jamison but he's too old, you need some young talented pieces to build around LeBron. Anthony Randolph would be better IMO

Cleveland wouldn't be trading Hickson in the deal for Jamison imo so you would keep young talent.

Plus, what would Randolph provide right now that Cleveland needs to win the Championship? He is in the same boat as Hickson, JJ hasn't fully grasped the system and Randolph would be forced to actually play defense and learn a whole new system while being leaned on to score points.

The only reason Cleveland is making a move is too find a scoring PF this season for the playoffs. While Randolph would look good down the road, a little more upside than Hickson, he hardly helps Cleveland in the present.

How long does it take one to "grasp the system". This is his 3rd year with the Cavs right? If he hasn't grasped the system by now, that alone is enough to trade him because he must be a moron.

The system is, clear out for Lebron and defend.

Yeah, I'm with you. The Cavs "system" is almost a joke around the league. It is very simple. Mike Brown has never been considered an offensive genius. If Hickson doesn't get 'it' by now, he must be one of the dumbest players in the league.

This is Hickson 2nd year.

And I imagine they are talking about the Cavs defensive system.

It's not the offensive system, it's the defensive rotations that have killed Hickson. Right now Cleveland is looking for a player that can create his own shot at the 4 position which Hickson cannot. They are also looking for a player that isn't stupid on the defensive end overall which Hickson is at the moment. JJ may turn into a good player in the future but right now he isn't reliable in the playoffs or in big games where Cleveland needs that scoring and defense the most.

Also, Jamison may be getting old but his production hasn't decreased overall. Actually he is scoring and rebounding more this season than compared to his career numbers. When you have a chance to get a 20 ppg and 8 rpg guy for practically nothing, you go for it. I understand that Jamison won't touch those type of numbers in Cleveland but he has the potential in any game to go off which will help.

Well since it's only his second, I guess you can be a little more patient.

I never did understand him as a draft pick. He always seemed like a 2nd round kind of guy. Never thought he was very skilled and not overly athletic. But he is still young, so maybe he can develop more.

Cleveland has been patient but they also know that his stock is pretty good right now. Cleveland really isn't in a position to wait for development.

That's what I don't get. They are trying to win now and want to build something around Lebron now, yet they draft that foreign guy who is nowhere to be found right now with their first round pick last year. Just mind boggling to me.

Because Ferry didn't think any player in the draft could make an impact immediately at the position Cleveland was picking. They tried to move up but several things went the other way with other teams.

They saved money, stored a player overseas and actually got a player they were targeting in Green.

In the NBA you don't build a team through the draft unless you have high picks. Free agency and trades is where you make a team a championship contender. Just look at the Cleveland players.

LeBron: #1 pick no brainer
Shaq: Trade
Williams: Trade
West: Trade
AV: Trade
Parker: FA
Moon: FA
Z: 1st Round Pick 20th
Hickson: 1st Round Pick
Gibson: 2nd Round Pick

The main parts are LeBron/Z 1st rounders and then all FA/Trade. Gibson has been out of the rotation and Hickson hasn't gotten major minutes recently.

I made my point on vaJJ and no one really agree with me. But Dejaun Blair helps the Cavs immediately, and he slipped to the 2nd round. He was a big guy who can score on the block and rebounds. All around, he's better than anything the Cavs have at that position right now.

I like Gibson, I don't understand why we aren't playing him more, he's a deadly 3-point shooter who works well with Lebron.

Cleveland doesn't need a player who can bang down low at the 4. They need a shooter.

If the Cavs didn't already have Shaq, and Anderson, Blair would've been a good pick, but seeing as we already have 2 bigs that can't really step out and shoot the ball, adding a 3rd, would've just been a wasted pick.

Because the Cavs don't need Blair. I'll take Andy banging down low and rebounding currently scoring 8 points and 8 boards. The Cavaliers need a shooting 4 not a banger. Blair doesn't have the outside game Cleveland is looking for.

and to say that you can't build a team through the draft is ludicrous. It takes time and people don't want to wait for it. But a good GM can do it. LAL drafted 3 of their starting 5 as did SA (and counting Manu, 4 of their top 6) I hope some of the cavs' past picks work out, but I don't think they will. Booby was never the guy for me, taking minutes from him is no surprise. he's injury prone and one dimensional. If Lebron was locked into a deal I think the last 2 drafts for the cavs would have been better, but it seems that the franchise is intent on making lebron happy (and I don't blame them for it) but they hamstrung themselves in the process.

Lakers technically didn't draft Kobe, they traded for him :D


Just messing with you. I agree with your points.

Quite a few championship teams have been built through the draft, at the same time quite a few have been made through FA.

Spurs for exampled Drafted Ginobili,Parker, Duncan from their Championship teams, and the Pistions only drafted Prince, but picked up Billups,Wallace,Wallace,Hamilton, through trades or FA.

-LAL traded for Kobe (Yes Kobe was traded), Gasol, Ariza, and Odom. All of whom had huge parts in last years championship. That is what 3 starting players (Kobe/Gasol/Ariza) and a huge bench contributor all via trade.
-Rondo, Garnett, Allen, Perkins, Davis all were traded for or picked up via FA.
-Most of the main guys on the Heat championship were not drafted either.
-Pistons great run wasn't produced by the draft.

DeJuan Blair does not help Cleveland at all, period doesn't at all. You don't draft a banger after signing AV to a long term deal.

Keep Boobie. In fact, I wouldn't mind having 2 Boobies. He makes mistakes on the defensive side of the ball from time to time. But who doesn't?

I'll take Daniel Gibson over Eddie House any time.

I want to keep Boobie also but he has played 14, 12, 0, and 6 minutes against PHO, SAC, LAL, and HOU. All four games Cleveland have won and are playing their best basketball.

I can't dispute his minutes have gone down. Doesn't mean that we should trade him. He has played well when called upon.

He has provided lightning in a bottle for this team all year. The resurgence of the team recently has a lot to do with Mo's play of late. And Shaq too (OK I admit it). Z's play has improved as well.

I haven't said they should trade him but the way things are looking right now he could be a piece to move. He isn't going to be in the main rotation unless matchup problems occur or major foul trouble. If teams are looking for talent and are offering major players, then you have to think about trading the 10th man on your rotation, possibly 11th when Powe returns.

The teams play has been a factor of Mo doing what he should be doing as Cleveland's #2 player and the defense just flat out playing tough. Gibson hasn't really been known for his defense which I think takes his minutes away when Cleveland picked up Parker and Moon both of whom are good defenders and can score if needed.
