Does he deserve all the hype he gets? Years past.....probably, this year......NO! Yeah, he's got nice moves but he's been in a slump and fumbles WAY too much (6 this year). The Vikes can thank him for handing the game over to the Bears.

End rant/
I feel better now.

He does fumble a little too much, but the Vikings can also thank him for helping get them back in the game. He had a nice game (fumble aside). The man is not over-hyped at all.

You're retarded..if you're as big a Vikings fan as you say you are, you'd realize that he has not put up as good as numbers because a) his QB doesn't suck this year and b) his coach has clearly favored Favre, especially in the red zone, so he isn't getting the same amount of carries as previous years.

He's still the best player in the National Football League, the only thing changed from now and last year is the gap between him and Chris Johnson is smaller, and that's only because of how much better CJ has gotten, now how worse AP has gotten.

But, do you think he's the Peterson of the past few seasons, or lesser? Or have teams found out how to stop him. I guess I just dont get it, when now the Vikes have a passing game, so teams cant focus all on stopping AP.

Can't over-hype the best RB in the game. He had a lot to do with the way they came back. I would take him on the Browns any day of the week.

He/you already answered your question. They are throwing it more. Hence Peterson gets less touches. I agree with S&L he is arguably the best player in the league

What don't you understand? He's still as good, his numbers are just inflated becuase of Brett Favre and Childress' obsession with him in the redzone.

His rushing yard average per carry has dropped each year while the fumbles have went up each year. He is getting more catches this year though.

No way he's the best overall player in the league. I'll give him best rb but not best player.

2008-1238 yards... 3.9 ypc...8 TDs...1 fumble lost
2009-754 yards... 3.4 ypc..., 4 TDs...5 fumble lost

That's Matt Forte...THOSE are stats that would make you believe he's "lost it" over a year time span. Not Petersons.

If there was one player you would take in the NFL, you wouldn't start with Adrian Peterson?

Peterson is the best RB in the NFL. Whether that's overhyped or not, who knows. However, when you are the best, you can't really be overrated. Really only Chris Johnson can argue right now, or Maurice Jones-Drew, but neither have done it as long as A.P.

He is like T.O was with his drops when he was the best receiver in the league in the sense that you have to live with the fact he is going to fumble the ball. He has done it his whole career, and it is not going to stop.

However, this was a really bad fumble, and he has had a couple like this. Certainly not his fault alone they lost the game, but you just can't fumble inside the opposing teams 40 in overtime when the ability to control your own destiny for a playoff bye was on the line.

They fought so hard to come back, that I think had they pulled it out there season goes a totally different direction than now as they are most likely not going to get the bye, they have no momentum as a team, and their coach is a retard who doesn't understand that Favre should be allowed to call whatever plays he wants at the line if he sees something. I think they are pretty much sunk right now as their special teams are awful and the defense looks just as bad.

Childress needs to realize his way of running the offense is just too stagnant and hasn't been working. They were at their best this season when they were spreading people out and Favre was doing what he wanted at the line of scrimmage disregarding playcalls. Favre got Childress his contract extension and was a large part of the reason they started 10-1, to try and reign him in as he has been doing is dumb. The second half tonight when they opened it up and free wheeled alot more should tell him all he needs to know about who's way works better.

Spread the offense out, let Favre audible out of playcalls if he wants, and at least try and go down swinging because the handcuff approach is a first class ticket home from the opening round of the playoffs.

I'm a big Vikings fan and I can tell you, Adrian Peterson is great but the fumbles and a tendency to drop passes keep him from being the best player in the NFL.

The fact that he doesn't know when to protect the ball instead of fighting for extra yardage is amateur bullshit. Chester Taylor is very valuable abecause of Peterson's inconsistencies and he may not be in MN next year.

Manning has 15 picks this year...Brady has 12.

Yet AP is criticized for a few fumbles?

I'm sorry but the best player in the NFL doesn't get held to under 70 yards in 5 games and only be 7th in rushing yards.

Maybe you missed the whole part about Childress "holding him back"

Look at Favre's attempts in the redzone compared to Peterson's...I don't feel like looking up the numbers but I'm sure they'll back up my theory.

I'd take Chris Johnson over AP honestly..

Of course Johnson hasn't don it as long, this is only his 2nd year in the league. Both years he's beasted though.
