Here's they funny part...again, 55 MIL GUARANTEED FOR A 33 YEAR OLD TONY ROMO.

It's hilarious.
I love this deal!

Because I dislike the Cowboys and anything that keeps them from true relevance for an extended period of time is a good thing.

Not a bad point.

But it should come down to this.

Wins.

If Romo, at the age of 33 and his years in the league has had more success with WINS and in the playoffs then yeah, it is justified.

But he hasnt. Ya can blame other factors.....but QB's make or break the team. If he was worth the $$ then he would have produced more wins at crucial times. The great QBs who are worth that kind of money will their teams to win and not wilt as often as he does.

There isnt one. I agree that he was probably overpaid, but I'd rather have the stability. It also buys Dallas time to jump on their "future" when they find him. Yeah, he is 32, but this will only be his 7th season of actually playing QB for any kind of meaningful time.

I have heard alot of diff arguments and such, but THIS WILL BE ONLY HIS 7TH SEASON i think takes the cake. Could understand if it was only his second, or third season but geesh........

congrats.

my point was that he should at least be able to maintain his level of play for the length of the contract, not surprised it went over your head.

With a defense that hopefully isnt shit (Offense always had to play from behind), and an OC (HC calling plays hardly ever works, especially young HCs), I look for Dallas to be improved this year. Romo had a better completion %, the same amount of INTs, and a better record than Drew Brees last season, but people arent bitching about his 100 million contract (60 guaranteed) that he signed at 33.

But like I said, hate on haters. Ill enjoy watching Pittsburgh continue to fall into mediocrity.

It's not hating when it's true.

Romo is the most unclutch player I've ever seen. Nowadays you just expect him to fuck up in crunch time.

I would be irate if I were a Dallas fan. Romo's agent deserves an award for landing this deal.

Also have to factor in his injury history and age. Deal is laughable and will fuck Dallas into Salary Cap hell for many yrs.

Dont really recall bringing up the steelers at all in these discussions.

And if the steelers sign a deal like that to a QB who hasnt won I would think the same thing.

And you want to compare brees and romo?

Wow. Romo has two seasons of over 20 TD passes, one of which was back in 2007. Brees is at 5 straight, the last two over 40.

and here is a little secret.....Brees has won games. Brees i clutch.

Simple logic would suggest that a player that has the most opportunities to choke, will also have a fair number of "choke jobs"

Lets just ignore the fact that he has a career avg QBR of 102.1 in the fourth quarter, as well as more than a 2:1 TD-INT ratio. Romo has 19 (18 4th q comebacks) game winning drives in his career. 5 of each of those were last year alone. Who has the most 4th quarter comebacks since 07? That would be Romo.

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4696976/do-stats-lie-no-qb-better-than-tony-romo-in-fourth-quarter

I suggest checking out this article (all stats found in parts 1,2, and 3): http://thelandryhat.com/2013/03/21/tony-romo-comeback-king-part-iii/

Romo has a better comeback % than Rodgers, Flacco, Brees, and Rivers.
Only Brady and Eli (in their career) have more overtime wins than him. (Romo is 4-2 the past 2 seasons)
Romo has a better comeback % than Aikman, and is only 2% under Staubach.

There are your facts, Automatik and OC. Hope this clears up your media bullshit false perception that he is one of the worst chokes ever. To summarize, I admit Romo chokes in key situations, but he also has a pretty good winning % in key situations. He chokes because he is always in a position to choke, its bound to happen. It also doesnt help that he is on the Cowboys, who everybody either hates or loves. So when it does happen, it is blown way out of proportion. Its always his fault when they lose.

Key situations....like playoff games?

Good QBs shine when the pressure is on. Romo has shown NUMEROUS times that he can't be depended on in those situations. But keep hanging on to that QBR rating in the 4th. I'm sold now!! LOL

It is a bit easier to have a good QBR in the 4th when you lead the offense so poorlly in the first three qtrs that you are in a big hole and the defense is playing loose.

But hey....Romo is better then brees and def a top 3 guy in the league. Think he has one more playoff win than I do.

BUt hey...he is only going into his 7th season....

Translation: I was wrong.

I just showed you a ton of data that says he has shined more than the majority of the league, and more than some "elite" quarterbacks.

Have fun guys, I've proven my point.

The diff tho is that the steelers QB has delivered two SB wins to the steel city and also another appearance. We pretty much knew that the run would end soon with the good seasons and having to sign our own guys to big contracts, selecting lower in the draft, having BR's big contract hinder the team as well as other big name players they drafted.

But hey.....I will take this every 10-15 years or so. Great QB...couple SB wins, some great seasons.....then slip into mediocrity..and do it all again!!!

I just don't understand the Romo apologists. What MORE do you need to see to realize this guy can't get it done?

I know several Dallas fans, not one of them were happy with this deal. Not the fact that they extended him, but the amount of guaranteed cash.

No he hasn't. He's not even elite.

I also think you're missing my point, which is this...a 33 year old Tony Romo is not worth that contract, especially not 55 million guaranteed.

Agreed. The few dallas fans I know said the same thing. It is diff to extend a guy who has won you alot of games, and taken you to the SB and such and proven his worth.
He has one playoff win. One.
He very well may go off this year and they may win more games. Who knows, but up unti now he has not proven to be clutch. He lets his team get down too much and too early
