Give your recommendation for a product or service you have or used.

I bought the other day for my home work shop an Lowes Shop Vac wet/dry 2.5 gallon and 2.5 HP. Works great and does a great job, light weight, has a mounting bracket for the wall. Was perfect to hang by the work bench, this will be great for the car and small job clean ups. $29.00 bucks and a Veteran discount of 10% at Lowes good deal good product.

http://denimtherapy.com/

I like nice jeans and have several higher end pairs. They wear out in places, rip, etc. and then look like shit. I discovered Denim Therapy when my favorite pair of jeans became so frayed on the bottom that I stopped wearing them. Highly recommended and they operate nationwide.

You print a diagram, mark spots to repair, ship to them. Once received they reply with a quote, you pay via paypal and they ship back to you. They can fix any and everything made from denim. It's not cheap, but they do amazing work.

Now you have to be VIP for it? Used to always be free next day. Usually overpriced though.

Amazon Prime (if you have a .edu email, you can get it free for a year) -- free 2 day shipping on most items. $3.99 one day shipping on others
Ninite -- useful for recently-formatted computers. downloads/installs common programs for you
TheFirstRow -- watch just about any sporting event (use adblock)
dlazz.net -- quality reading material
slickdeals -- find deals on stuff.
  • Other obvious perks: If you need to buy a big item from Best Buy or similar big-box store, buy giftcards from Giant Eagle or Kroger and use your reward card to earn lots of fuel perks at once.
  • Pre-paid cell phone plans (like ccrunner posted) are great for saving a handful of cash. I recently got a Nexus 4 with T-Mobile prepaid. 100 minutes, unlimited everything else for $30/mo.
  • You can get discounted Microsoft programs if you look hard enough. Microsoft has a deal where you can get Windows 8 right now for $14.99. Just put bogus "purchase" information and it will go through successfully. Most colleges/universities also offer it at substantial discounts/free.
  • You can save approx $5/mo on your (cable) internet bill by buying your own cable modem. If you shop around, you can find one cheap enough that it'll pay for itself after a few months.
I'm sure I'll think of some others later.

I had no clue it was free now. Before I had this account it was only free ground shipping, if I'm not mistaken. That was a about two years ago.

Studentuniverse is awesome. I was sad when my account expired.
