I had the privilege of meeting him following a speech at the Front Row in Cleveland after his retirement. He had a distinct ability to make things right or wrong when it came to decisions.

What a great leader. Loved the way he went at the press. His whole "Have you ever been in a mine field? Well I have and if there is only one mine in it it's intense!" (paraphrased)

RIP to a great leader/warrior.

Cousin of mine was in his entourage all during Desert Storm. He knew Stormin' Norman very well. He retired a few years ago after 32 yrs, as the first Command Sgt Major, JAG Corps.
General Schwarzkopf was one of the best. R.I.P.

He was a tough SOB. He wrestled for West Point. I would feel bad for anyone who fucked with him.

I was fortunate enough to sit in on a briefing he gave in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. Afterwards I got to shake his hand. It was like shaking a bear's paw, his hands were huge. He just had the aura of a General, kind of like I imagine Patton. RIP Stormin' Norman, you will be missed.

WTF!!! Still 20 plus years later !!! If we would have went after Saddam/Iraq we would have lost the Coalition. It was about the Liberalization of Kuwait.

I was just there last year, we didn't do a very good job of liberalizing Kuwait. We did however, do a great job liberating it. :)

I agree with what you are saying though. At one point my unit was within 75 miles of Baghdad with nothing but open highway between us. But, the UN Resolution only allowed us to defend Saudi Arabia and liberate Kuwait. If we had gone any further we would have been acting unilaterally . The Brits might have gone along with us, they always do, but otherwise we would have been seen as out of control cowboys by the rest of the world.

Nice catch on the typo Polar Bear. Damn Auto Correct....lol. Looks like the US was the one Liberalized 20 years later.

I actually out processed from the AF the day our birds left to fly across the Pond. I still had 3 1/2 years of Inactive status left. I thought for sure I was going to get called back. Even kept my duffel bag packed and ready to go, but it never happened.
