This game didn't change my opinion on either team.Against good teams duke will live or die with the 3. That is who they are every year. Last night, the dukies outscored Miami 33-9 behind the arc. In the loss at Miami the dukies only made 3 shots behind the arc.

duke was impressive but so was Miami. The fact that Miami could stay with the dukies in that environment and under Kelly's onslaught was impressive as well. Larkin's ability to beat people off of the dribble and get in the lane will serve the Canes well in the tournament.

I hope there is a rematch in the ACC Tournament.

"Waxed"? Nice word! Hey 1995 called and wants their word back from you

At least Prescott uses reasonable arguments. I know this has been asked thousands of times, but, Sleeper, do you actually believe what you type? Nevermind, I know you couldn't possibly believe it.

I know I know. Don't feed the trolls. So many years of reading his posts. Make me wonder if he has a social disorder.

I don't like Duke(fans) and I don't like Notre Dame(fans). There is nothing else to discuss.

It was early and it just seemed like Tech was much quicker. Not necessarily the truth or not, just Tech looked like the quicker team.

Ryan Kelly went for 18 points and 9 rebounds as an encore to his 36-point performance against Miami. The 6-foot-11 senior is averaging 15 points per and shooting 53 percent from three-point land on the season, including making 30 out of his last 46 from beyond the arc. That's insanity for a guy his size.

Duke rolls over Va Tech 85 to 57, setting up the showdown in Chapel Hill to end the season. Saturday's gonna be a classic.

Duke v. Indiana.........thats the dream game
I would like to see that game. I think it would be off the charts good; an old-fashioned shoot out.

I agree Kelly's return will be a huge thing for Duke.
What I have been saying all year however is that since there are no tournament games in the state of North Carolina, Duke will have a better opening and second round.

There is no advantage for the Devils when playing in this state. Anyone who thinks so has never been to Greensboro, Charlotte, or Winston for a tournament game. Its not a coincidence that in 2010 when the Devils won it they played in Jacksonsville, Houston, and Indy. This time around playing an opening round in DC, Philly, or east coast venue will be much appreciated.

But Coach K plays all those neutral site "road" games to simulate NCAA Tournament games, right? Maybe he should schedule a few more true road games in hostile environments to prepare for the fact that he might have to play in front of a crowd full of fans that despise Duke.

Don't worry, swami. I'm only being half serious. I'm just in hate Duke mode for tomorrow night, and I also like seeing reclegend get fired up about this particular subject. :D

Your logic is flawed though.

2001. They played the first 2 rounds in Greensboro.

He doesn't have to. Duke already plays nine road games in the ACC every year.

Any road game Duke plays is the most hostile arena in basketball.

Then playing tournament games in the state of North Carolina should never be problem.

And LOL Swami.

1991. Played rounds 1 and 2 in Charlotte.

1992. Played rounds 1 and 2 in Greensboro.

So in 3 of Dook's National Championships, they have played games in North Carolina.

That wasn't my argument.

I do agree with swami, though, that it doesn't make it any easier to win an NCAA Tournament game when the entire arena is against you amplified x10. Generally, you have the pocket of Duke fans in the arena, and then you have every other fan from the other teams in attendance cheering against Duke. As wildcats points out, though, Duke has had success playing the early rounds in NC as well. In 1999, Duke played in Charlotte in the first and second rounds and advanced to the NCAA final. In 2001, they advanced out of Greensboro and eventually won a national title. In 2004, the Blue Devils went to the Final Four after winning their opening weekend games in Raleigh. Etc.

swami is probably talking more about the times when Duke has had a good team, but not a great team, and K used playing in front of anti-Duke crowds in its home state as an excuse for losing. That's just my guess.

And yes, I realize that everyone else in the building will be rooting for whoever they are playing; but playing in your home state, less than 2 hours away from home, creates such an advantage.

That reminds me of my favorite Roy Williams excuse after he ultimately comes up short of winning the ACC Tournament (almost) every year. "It's just a big cocktail party." :D

Haha. True. And I still do not understand that line of thinking at all. If it's because he thinks exerting too much effort to win the ACC Tournament drains his team prior to the NCAAs, that makes absolutely no sense. To disprove that, Duke won the ACC Tournament in 1992, 2001 and 2010, and also went on to win national titles each year.

Why any coach's philosophy would be to essentially "throw" games is beyond me, and to basically openly admit to that fact is even more ridiculous.

He thinks a 18 game schedule is more telling of who a true champion is.

Maybe in the early '90s before the completely unbalanced schedule. Not anymore.

There's also the thing where Roy's had very little success at the ACC Tournament and has fallen back on that excuse for not winning it. I'd say that ranks right up there as a high likelihood for the root of his ACC Tournament derision. Nobody likes to lose.

And while I don't actually believe Roy "throws" games, the fact that you seem to is very telling. I'm sure glad my coach values winning championships and promoting a culture of success more than that.
