I think but this undoubtedly vaults rookie Courtney Upshaw into the starting lineup.

If they don't want any drama, and want to keep him on the team, they will pay him.Gblock;1161065 wrote:i wonder if he still gets paid...some guys have different types of clauses for what activities they can do in the offseason and dealing with nonfootball injuries
he was injured outside of football - i'd cut his pay.like_that;1161075 wrote:If they don't want any drama, and want to keep him on the team, they will pay him.
Then you run the risk of having your best defensive player leaving you.Raw Dawgin' it;1161084 wrote:he was injured outside of football - i'd cut his pay.
If he's under contract, not a whole lot he can do. Also who knows if he's still the best following a torn achilles.like_that;1161094 wrote:Then you run the risk of having your best defensive player leaving you.
He can do the whole prima donna act. Hold out, demand for a trade, etc.Commander of Awesome;1161096 wrote:If he's under contract, not a whole lot he can do. Also who knows if he's still the best following a torn achilles.

F'n blows. I'm guessing Upshaw will get the start but they have a decent list of linebackers so I'm not sure. Suggs says it's just a partial tear and he could only be out 6 months. I would like to see what Kindle has in him also since they made such a big deal about him not being able to play yet.killer_ewok;1161060 wrote:I think but this undoubtedly vaults rookie Courtney Upshaw into the starting lineup.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7889554/nfl-players-union-files-grievances-new-orleans-saints-bounty-suspensionsThe NFL Players Association has filed a pair of grievances challenging the authority of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to suspend four players for their involvement in the New Orleans Saints' bounty program. In the first, filed with arbitrator Shyam Das, the NFLPA argues that Goodell is prohibited from punishing players for any conduct prior to Aug. 4, when the current collective bargaining agreement took effect.
"In connection with entering into the 2011 CBA, the NFL released all players from conduct engaged in prior to the execution of the CBA, on August 4, 2011," the grievance says.

Looks like a slam shut case. I expect all these players to be back with no suspension.
Looks like goodell just got mushroom stamped.Gblock;1162490 wrote:wow thats some good lawyering there...good for them
Listening to Ross Tucker (NFL Radio) on the drive in, he felt that what made the most sense was for the Rats to swing a trade for Osi Umenyiora and work Upshaw into the mix.bigdaddy2003;1161413 wrote:Shall be interesting to see how long he is actually out and how Courtney Upshaw performs in his absence.
That would be nice depending on what they have to give up for Osi obviously. I seem to remember him being hurt most of last season.BR1986FB;1162501 wrote:Listening to Ross Tucker (NFL Radio) on the drive in, he felt that what made the most sense was for the Rats to swing a trade for Osi Umenyiora and work Upshaw into the mix.
then he won a super bowl...he'll be fine. lol if you're turning your nose up at Osi.bigdaddy2003;1162504 wrote:That would be nice depending on what they have to give up for Osi obviously. I seem to remember him being hurt most of last season.
