I would put my life savings on Phil Davis, not a close match either.

The problem with this debate is Evans is taking advantage of MMA writers at that press conference not doing a little research and calling him out on what is just a stupid assertion. You are what your record says you are and their careers were not close. Davis as a freshman would likely have beaten Evans as a senior. Davis' worst finish in the Big Ten Tourny was 4th, Evans' best was 3rd. Their performance comparisons at the NCAA tourny isn't even worth discussing.

The correct way to handle that discussion for Evens would have been to say, "Davis was a great champion in college. I wrestled in the Big Ten as well, and I know how tough NCAA wrestling is. But this isn't NCAA wrestling, it's the UFC". Anything else just makes him sound stupid.

evans made davis look foolish. got taken down a couple times but stuffed a lot more. davis was not on the same level tonight
