When I was a freshman (all whopping 96 pounds of me), our team, Groveport Madison, was ranked third in the area. We were set to dual the team ranked second, Dublin (back when it was one school). Our 103-pounder hadn't been able to continue to make the drop every week down from 127 -- enter cruiser_96. The entire coaching staff, every wrestler on my team, every fan or recent graduate that I never knew would come to me trying to share bits of wisdom, all of which -- in some form or another -- came out as, "DON'T GET PINNED!!!"

Now, this was my first varsity match ever and I was to take-on a two-time district qualifier in junior Kevin Cleveland. I had no clue who he was, where Dublin was, what a district qualifier was - let alone a 2x-er, or why people I didn't know were talking to me -- but I did know to not get pinned. The final score read Cleveland 13, cruiser_96 7 (I think. I'm pretty sure I did not get majored.). Our stands were ROCKING!!!

I tell you that to tell you this...

On Thursday night, at 6:30pm, the Olentangy Braves will host the Marysville Monarchs in a dual meet for the ages!!! Not only does it pit the two best teams in the D-I Central District, it also will more than likely win the OCC Cardinal. Yes, that is the same league with O. Lib and W. North, among others.

If I had the power - and perhaps this is part of my problem - I would cancel my dual with Grove City, and redirect the bus driver north instead of west. Yes. I suppose that is my problem! Anywho, I can't make it so someone will have to go and fill everyone in.

Not to come off like upset_103 but anyone have any line-ups!? Projections???

Recent results show Marysville placed higher at the Top Gun, then the two teams tied last week at Mason.

CTL: I would assume, but can't guarantee. Both teams had kids out for the JVH at Mason. The question is motivation/reasoning???? Were any or all of the wrestlers able to go last Saturday, but held out with this meet in view!?!?!?!

I'm telling you this is going to be one heck of a dual!!!

And, because I know you are out there...

Do you think the Monarchs take the District title as well? I'm not arguing for or against; just asking.

I HATE this kind of talk, I hope our kids wrestle as well as they can and let the results speak for themselves.

But we LOVE you, monarchpride!!! Comes with the territory, brother. You do notice no one on here is mentioning the Cruiser heavyweight winning anything, right!?

I think we all realize Marysville can't lose! :D :D :D (Note to any Monarch wrestlers: that was a joke. You guys MUST put in the time and work and are better off not reading the drivel I, or anyone else posts.) Best of luck Monarchs!

They don't care that the weight is 106, they are shedding the extra 3 pounds!

Ha!!! The only thing is, since both have stood on the podium at the Schott, a dual of even this magnitude is semi beneath them. I was a deer in headlights!!! However, I would love the gesture.

I am considering attending this. With no horse in the race, i think this dual is too close to call. Can anyone break it down for us? Any chance forrider and fosco butt heads?

Sid - Break this Dual down for me. I see this Dual coming down to the last three matches. I don't see Marysville winning this Dual hands down. What do you know?

138- Lancia WM by fall over MV 42-25
145- Robb WM by fall over Horner MV 42-31
152- Cameron WM by decision 5-2 over Staten WM

my thoughts...
Overall it seemed forfeits (obviously) hurt us immensely...
Robb led Horner 10-2 when he pinned him, pleasant surprise, Stephen is wrestling well at the right time...
Staten was much tougher than expected (at least by me)... Only a freshman, he will be tough...
