The former #1 ranked 2011 recruit was re-classified as a 2012 recruit after saying he would go to Prep School but today Drummond announced he will be attending UConn. This will make the Huskies a strong favorite for the year as they try to repeat as champs. Drummond, Oriakhi, Roscoe Smith and Tyler Olander will probably make the post the number one option for the team. Lamb and Napier will try to replace Walker but with all the size down low now, it will give them a lot more balance than last year. Can't wait for the season to start already! :)

This puts Connecticut in the class with Kentucky and North Carolina. Ohio State and Syracuse are just a single-notch below. Throw in Duke, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Memphis and then your pick of Baylor, Florida or Pittsburgh and you have your top 10.

Folks, no matter who your team is, this is setting up to be the most-talented and deepest college basketball season in a long time. The spotlight will really shine for the sport too with the NBA unlikely to be in action. I simply can't wait.

How UConn was able to avoid more serious sanctions to the program for the crap they pulled still baffles me. I swear if that happens at Kentucky or OSU, the program is probably still recovering from it.

And yes, after this past football off season, I'm paranoid.

I don't understand how Calhoun gets guys to go to Storrs Connecticut. The campus is so so, there is nothing around it but pasture, the girls aren't impressive, and the facilities are subpar given the Big East's recent upgrades (Louisville, Marquette, Providence, Pitt, St.Johns). He doesn't strike me as the coach players dream to play for. It really is amazing to think of the talent he has brought in since he arrived in the late 80's.

The thing is, he usually doesn't recruit that well. At least not the big names. I think the stat was that Kentucky and Carolina have both had more McDonald's All-Americans in the past 4 years than Calhoun has had in his entire stay at UConn, or something like that. He just finds ways to get the most out of his players.
