Now I know the plays weren't the same , but the end result of an unnecessary red was. Just saying, that unfortunately bad calls happen and today United were on the wrong end.
Two feet, straight into the lower-legs of Nani. FIFA and all of soccer made an intentional effort to cut down on the straight-on, studs up, launching at the legs of players. There is nothing but intent to harm that a two-footed tackle does. It's awful. There's no reason for it.
I'll even say, as bad as Nigel de Jong's challenge was, it does nothing in harm of what a two-footed tackle does. As terrible as what it looks and feels, that challenge doesn't compare to what happens with a two-footer.
