Studs up! Studs up! Intent doesn't matter!

Now I know the plays weren't the same , but the end result of an unnecessary red was. Just saying, that unfortunately bad calls happen and today United were on the wrong end.
There is a big difference though. Kompany launched himself at Nani.

Two feet, straight into the lower-legs of Nani. FIFA and all of soccer made an intentional effort to cut down on the straight-on, studs up, launching at the legs of players. There is nothing but intent to harm that a two-footed tackle does. It's awful. There's no reason for it.

I'll even say, as bad as Nigel de Jong's challenge was, it does nothing in harm of what a two-footed tackle does. As terrible as what it looks and feels, that challenge doesn't compare to what happens with a two-footer.

Big blow for the USMNT. Timmy Howard is out for a spell with a broken back.

Who's going in between the pipes for them? I imagine we'll see Guzan.

Guzan would do fine..bummer losing Howard though.

Aston villa with a HUGE road win yesterday vs reading.. became clear of the drop zone and get last place QPR next.

This is what could happen when someone tackles like Kompany tackles...not for the squeamish.

[SP][/SP]

You won't see something like that happening from a Nani red card.

Technically, only 2. If Milan scores though, they need 4. That aint happening, so I agree with Durkie, odds are against them.

Messi will have to have an Arsenal type game for them to advance.

Mere seconds after Milan has a chance to put Barcelona away, Messi levels it up. Incredible.

So was Barca playing a La Liga creampuff? Pick6 told me that was the only way they could do damage...

I dont call this "doing damage"

However, me being a Chelsea fan, I guess I shouldnt be surprised my expectations are a little higher than yours :D

You made the comment about Messi and Barca losing 2-0 cause they werent playing La Liga teams. They beat Milan 4-0 today and Messi, as Auto pointed out, balled the fuck out.

Also, advancing to the final 8 in Europe is definitely doing damage.

That little touch to set that first goal up is a prime example of why I love soccer. So pretty. That's the type of video game type stuff that fires me up.

Just watched the UCL highlight show..Messi is God-like. Unreal.

Loved the finish from David Villa, as well. R1'd it.
