A three man bracket is a fact and a tragedy. Under the old format in a three man bracket the #1 seed gets bye'd into the finals...and if that person's seeding criteria is questionable look out! This format creates more fairness, reduces the emphasis on seeding and makes more wrestling. If you have a problem with more wrestling, you have a problem with yourself. 5 man bracket #1 seed could wrestle twice. Here they wrestle three times.

If you've read my comments over the years I'm a big advocate of more WCAL wrestling. This is a small change, but a good one. Wrestlers bump around every year to benefit the team. That's a good thing! It makes matchups that otherwise wouldn't happen. If it is a fact that Waynedale opposes this change then I'm disappointed in the same way I am disappointed that NW/Way dual isn't a yearly occurrence. I know and understand that WCAL foes wrestle each other too much in the month of February...anyway I'm just saying I know the talking points and prefer more local wrestling.

CAT classic. I got to see several great local wrestlers, however it was Cloverleaf, Wadsworth and Tuslaw that were the powers there. I saw coach wearing a Bill Cosby sweater and a trench coat, and many great Wayne county wrestlers including a few from Wooster and Rittman. Mark my words that the Indians will be legit once this talent filters through. Seems like good coaching and quality kids involved in that program.
I agree with more wrestling is a good thing. it is the weakest tournament on NW and Way schedule. BUT... what makes the tournament so great us the atmosphere and finals... I'm worried about the pool ruining this... I say simple fix and what should have been done and for some reason I remember it being similar to this at one time.... 3-4 guys equals automatic round robin... everything else is a bracket... I guess we'll have to see though... I just hate that a final could potentially have a 3-0 vs a 2-1 kid. that means that there most likely will be another 2-1 kid. who gets the nod to go across the bracket for first? coaches vote? can't tell me waynedale won't get screwed there... what if the 2-1 wins ans the other 2-1 wins? now we have 3 3-1 kids who gets first? (not the waynedale kid) too much objectivity IMO.

this all could be and would be adressed before the meet and my concerns answered but I just dunno... I think the idea is ok but I can see this creating major isssues. (more than bracketgate...fudgegate...spygate...refgate...and all the other gates)

not to mention "FORFEITGATE"

Finley and Heldenbrand both dropping is interesting.
In both cases it's out of the frying pan and into the fire. Finley avoids Beam, but gets Stanley. While Heldenbrand avoids Stanley but gets Fortune. The moves probably help the Falcon wrestlers a little, but the road is still pretty rough.
145, 152 & 160 will all be fun classes to watch at county.

How many wrestlers are in the HWT class? CHIP,SMV,NWN,WD,DAL, not sure about HILL & NOR.

If it ends up being a 5 man pool. Will there be a championship match? and what would happen if Kelbly & Srock wrestled twice (pool round & championship) and each went 1-1 against the other.
Who's the champ? if this scenario played out.

From the looks of it Kelbly might win it! it is his senior year, and with Srock being only a Jr, Kelbly might come out with more passion. I know NOR does not have a heavy, not sure about HILL they usually do, unless NOR's 220 bumps.

Any "gate" involving Chad would clearly be "nosegate."

Yes congratulations riders. If you attended the tournament yesterday, you also had an opportunity to be around the Wooster Speech and Debate team as they had their annual tournament at home as well. that has to be a win-win for some in attendance.

I didnt think it was bad...National Headlines on page 1 with Paterno, COW (lot of interest)...pretty good write-ups on Orrville winning the Woo Invite and the Northwestern tourney. Would have had something on Waynedale Duals....had everyone not cancelled.

Only thing that has me curious is the Tuslaw happenings...

I would agree with beast here, but that usually throws the earth off its axis.

Speech & Debate Team?
If you really want a win-win situation.....

have a tournament where people with speech impediments debate!!!

That might actually be fun to watch

Which begs the somewhat rhetorical question...

Why does the word "lisp" have an S in it??????

speaking of lisps.....

Michael Strahan is now speaking the SF/NYG postgame show.
Maybe you could get him to say gullible real slow.

On the topic of DR coverage.....
I thought it was pretty good. Basic results on 3 tournaments and interviews with the coaches......
not to mention I didn't even have to buy the paper
That truly is a win-win situation

And Srock vs Kelbly.......I'm going Srock.
