Haha not at all Tobias Funke but I will have to search them out to see what all the fuss is. I'm just pretty much reiterating what you stated about Tressel's apparent lack of knowledge.

Wow! You just described my fraternity at Miami University and there were no football players in the house. Most any student group or organization at most colleges will have these things happening. I don't think they are exclusive to sport teams. I don't think Tressel "knew" if violations were occurring, but I am sure there were rumors and signs. Knowing and assuming are two different things. I am sure Tressel chose to remain in the dark and hope any rumors were not true.

If you went to YSU during that time period and say that their program did not have a lot of shady things going on them no one can help you. Fixing grades, players having the actual test, players selling drugs, players having jobs that they never showed up to but yet they still were paid, etc. I'm a big Tressel fan but I don't put ordinary human beings on the level that most of you put him.

first of all, it's anonymous, and secondly, I was questioning whether or not you were a poster notorious for using multiple screen names--NOT someone who is anonymous

You people continue to crack me up. It is more than 3 or 4 players...The current scandal alone involves more than 3 or 4 players!

And we are talking the most high profile players on the team...the ones that you ABSOLUTELY keep track of.

I also love the theory that one lie doesn't make someone a habitual liar...that is true. BUT...its also true that he has told quite a few lies. He has been caught up in multiple lies related to tatgate, and he was caught in lies saying he didnt know the YSU booster who gave money to the QB, but it was proven he had known him for years. Seems like the lies go from his first coaching scandal through his last coaching scandal.

People...OPEN YOUR EYES!

Yes...he won lots of ball games, he should be considered a good x's and o's guy for that. But you can't turn a blind eye to his mistakes either. There are VERY few people left outside of OSU fans who haven't figured out that he is a liar and has no problem with corruption and rule breaking going on in his programs. Maybe in a few years when the sting of the scandal has worn off you will be able to see him for who he really is/was. Until then, have fun continuing to worship your false god.

Do you really think a major college coach, with all the things he has to oversee, is going to be able to know what every single player is up to? If you do, you're not being honest. Even with a good staff and compliance department, it's still very hard to check up on every single player.

If someone is intent on getting away with receiving extra benefits, I'm sure it's not too difficult to do. We've heard plenty of stories after the fact about players who ended up taking things they admitted to years later.

Tressel not knowing in any of these cases isn't difficult to believe. It's not difficult to believe any coach could miss them. Heck, it's THREE players over a coaching career of 20 plus years (four if you include Troy Smith).

What of course isn't forgivable (in the keep your job sense) was lying about it. But not knowing? That's very believable.

My point wasn't that he should be following the players around, however, when it is such a persistent problem and has been out in the open i.e. Ray Isaac, Mo Clarett, Troy Smith, Tat 5, etc.; he certainly did nothing to prevent it or encourage players to abide by the rules, this much is clear to me.

You're a known bigger liar than Tressel. Everyone lies. Only one person in the history of the human race never lied.

You point is baseless. Clarett and Smith were both caught breaking rules. Ohio State self reported, Ohio State and Tressel punished both Clarett and Smith for their transgressions. The NCAA accepted the punishments. There were no lies, there were no cover ups.

Nor did I say they were lies or coverups in those situations (Clarett, Smith), I stated how there was a consistent pattern of players breaking rules under Tressel. So what is your point?

TRESSEL DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ISAAC HOW MANY FREAKING TIMES DO I NEED TO SAY IT?!!?!?!
“Unless the money, or the receipts of the money, came out that Mickey Monus gave me money; if Ron Cole [then-Vindicator reporter and now YSU spokesman] had not alerted Youngstown State University, then I would have escaped the lie,” he told The Vindicator on Wednesday. “Jim Tressel did not know anything.”

You're going to make a terrible lawyer. I didn't say Tressel KNEW about all those situations, I stated that it is a PROBLEM THAT HAS SEEMED TO BE VERY PERSISTENT AND CONSISTENT WHEREEVER TRESSEL HAS BEEN. It is clear he does little to encourage the players to follow the rules, otherwise this wouldn't be such a problem and be his ultimate demise as OSU head coach.

Please consider another career path, for the sake of your future clients.

Oh really? If he didn't know about it, then how can you say he does little to encourage players following the rules?

How about this quote then: (for the record, I'm fairly certain an internet messaging board is not at all an accurate representation of work I'll be doing. But if to you it is, then you're a moron).
"What the players go out and do on their own time and make their own decisions is on them," Jenkins said. "I know (the compliance department) puts things in place to give us knowledge of the rules, give us education on how to deal with those situations, but what the players do with that is another story."
.
"They explain the rules to you, but as a kid you're not really listening to all of them rules,"
With my "lawyer skills" it's pretty apparent that Malcolm Jenkins and Ray Small just $hit all over your argument. BOOM: "LAWYERED"

You can't keep tabs on players 24/7 to know if there's following the rules every waking freaking moment. All you can do is educate them, hope they don't break them, and report it when they do. Tressel's mistake was the latter, not the former.
