Seems there some backing regarding realigning and creating two 15 team leagues.

5 from each league would make the playoffs. Houston has been suggested to be the team transferring to the AL.

At least it creates an opportunity to make the schedule a little more balance.

I'm all for it, especially if it eliminates divisions.

Could just go back about 15 years and keep the Brewers in the AL.

Play every team in the other league one series with interleague play having to go on all season to keep from having byes. I like that.

Three division winners get byes and start 2nd round play on Wed. Best two records that don't win their divisions play each other best two of three series in two days. Play Monday and travel Monday night to the better seeded site for two games if necessary on Tuesday.

I'm actually excited about this. I think it will be legitimately cool.

I also think it would be easy to just send Milwaukee back to the AL, but I'm not sure if they would want to now? It seems like their main goal is to create some sort of regional rivalry though. Houston (vs. Texas) or Florida (vs. Tampa). However, I really don't think Florida vs. Tampa is happening. Miami is a joke of a sports town and is only rivaled by Tampa in this regard. I still can't believe Jeffrey Loria built a new stadium down there. smh

Now if MLB would just adopt a hard salary cap like the NFL.

Then we'd find out which organizations are really the best...and not just which ones can throw the most money at a lineup.

could get behind it. it'd be interesting to see how the interleague matchups would play out each series. i'd still rather eliminate the dh and get pittsburgh, cincinnati, detroit and cleveland all in the same division to create more of a geographic rivalry amongst the four teams

Why couldn't you add the DH and create such a division?

I think the Division breakdown is gone. Sounds like they want two leagues and that's it. It's crazy right now that you play a team as many times in the other league as you do a team in your own league if they are not in your division.

The uneven schedule has been a detriment to the game, IMO. As the Tribe announcers pointed out today, we play Cincy as much as we play Tampa.

Would be a great move if divisions are eliminated.

If you had regional divisions with an unbalanced schedule, it may help attendance since most divisional games could be within a few hour drive.

Heard this on friday night sports sqwack on WLW.

A few of the scenarios I thought wasnt too interested in and I dont think would really solve a whole lot.

The one that caught my interest was doing away with the divisions and make it NL and AL.

The more I thought of it the more I like it. Here are some scenarios I see could happen.

SCENARIO I:
Reds play each AL in interleague play. That would leave 117 games vs the NL. That would leave 8 games plus with each NL team.
Unsure I really like that one.

SCENARIO II:
Reds play 5 interleague series according to the setup I will describe later with a total of 15 games. That leaves 10 plus games vs eacch NL team.
Like that better than the first.

SCENARIO III:
Reds play 5 interleague series with the setup and one rivalry series. That leaves 18 interleague games. That gives you around 10 games as well for the NL.


The setup would be this for interleague play. If you finish in the top 5 of the NL you will be matched against the top 5 of the AL that next year. If you are 6-10 you play teams 6-10, and 11-15will play 11-15.
The NFL does something similiar for two games (play 6 division games, 4 vs a conference foe, 4 vs other conference foe, and the last two games are against the team who finished the same as you in the other two divisions in your conference you are not match up with).

I think I kind of like the last scenario. 10 games vs your league would be most likely a 3-3-4 series so it may not be "totally" fair (someone will complain) that you may have to play a team on the road twice, and home only one series).


I kinda like that if they do realignment
